This role will provide architecture leadership across complex, data-intensive platforms and partner with engineering teams to turn business strategy into scalable, secure, and supportable technology solutions.\nRequired Knowledge And Experiences\nKey Responsibilities\nDefine and govern target architecture for enterprise-grade Java and Spring-based applications, APIs, data platforms, integrations, and messaging services.\nTranslate product and business strategy into architecture roadmaps, transition states, technical standards, and executable implementation plans.\nLead architecture and design reviews for new components, cross-system integrations, data flows, security controls, and significant system enhancements.\nEstablish scalable patterns for microservices, distributed systems, Kafka-based messaging, Cassandra and related data stores, RESTful APIs, and cloud-connected environments.\nGuide modernization of legacy platforms toward cloud-ready or cloud-native architectures while balancing delivery risk, customer commitments, cost, and operational continuity.\nOwn and review architecture artifacts, technical specifications, nonfunctional requirements, decision records, reference architectures, and implementation estimates.\nPartner with lead and senior engineers to validate designs through prototypes, critical-path implementation, performance testing, and production-readiness reviews.\nDrive architectural improvements in scalability, performance, resilience, security, observability, maintainability, and supportability.\nProvide technical leadership during complex production incidents, identify systemic causes, and sponsor durable architectural remediation.\nCollaborate with product managers, engineering leaders, QA, DevOps, operations, security, data teams, and enterprise architects to resolve tradeoffs and dependencies.\nDefine and promote engineering standards for API design, data management, code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, and release readiness.\nMentor technical leaders and engineers, communicate architectural intent clearly, and build broad adoption of sound engineering practices across geographically distributed teams.\nRequired Qualifications\n12+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise software, including substantial experience with Spring-based Java services and distributed systems.\nDeep experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Web, Spring Security, Spring Data, Kafka, Cassandra, and RESTful service architectures.\nProven success defining architecture for scalable, reliable, secure, production-grade backend platforms and high-volume data or messaging systems.\nStrong command of object-oriented design, microservices architecture, integration patterns, data modeling, consistency and availability tradeoffs, and performance engineering.\nExperience producing architecture roadmaps, reference architectures, technical specifications, nonfunctional requirements, architecture decision records, and delivery estimates.\nDemonstrated ability to evaluate technology options, articulate tradeoffs, influence senior technical and business stakeholders, and create alignment without relying solely on formal authority.\nStrong experience with production troubleshooting, observability, capacity planning, reliability engineering, and operational readiness for distributed applications.\nStrong Linux skills and familiarity with AWS or comparable cloud technology.\nAbility to remain technically hands-on through design validation, code and design review, prototyping, and resolution of complex technical issues.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills across engineering, product, QA, operations, security, architecture, and business teams.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Spark or similar distributed data-processing technologies.\nExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other container orchestration platforms.\nExperience defining CI/CD, infrastructure automation, test automation, deployment standardization, and software supply-chain controls.\nExperience with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or comparable tools.\nExperience with telecommunications, mobile messaging, fraud prevention, identity, STIR/SHAKEN, SIP, API security, or related communications technologies.\nExperience leading multi-year modernization or platform consolidation initiatives across geographically distributed teams.\nExperience integrating architecture governance with Agile delivery so that standards accelerate delivery rather than create unnecessary process.\nTransUnion Overview:\nAt TransUnion, we encourage and are committed to creating a real, positive impact and shared sense of purpose within our Workforce for Good, which empowers our people to grow, innovate and contribute to a better future for our communities and customers.
