With over 1,000 employees and a £150m turnover, we’re growing-and now looking for an Payroll Technician to play a key role in our project delivery teams.\nThe Role\n As a Payroll Technician you will be responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing for weekly and monthly employees and administrative support, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and company policies.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nTransaction Processing:\nProcess payroll data including hours worked, overtime and bonuses. \nProcess payroll with monthly and weekly payroll runs for all staff. \nCalculate and process payroll deductions. \nChecking and verifying timesheets, overtime, absences and allowances. \nEscalate payroll anomalies or discrepancies to senior payroll staff.\nSystem Management:\nMaintain accurate employee records in payroll systems. \nAssist in implementing process improvements and system updates.\nCompliance & Reporting:\nMaintain compliance with Company procedures, local agreements and management system. \nMaintain compliance with HMRC regulations, pension contributions, and statutory payments. \nEnsure payroll-related documentation meets audit expectations. \nArchive records in relation to payroll documentation. \nEnsure adherence to GDPR and confidentiality requirements.\nStakeholder Communication:\nRespond to payroll queries from employees and managers promptly and professionally.\nLiaise with HR and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies. \nLiaise with management / supervision on anomalies relating to hours / holidays / absence / travel / subsistence in relation to payroll processing.\nCore Values:\nUphold and promote the Company’s Core Values - Care, Trust, Respect and Sustainability.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nEssential\nProficiency in payroll software and MS Excel.\n Desirable\nCIPP qualified working towards a payroll qualification.\nStrong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance. \nExperience in processing payroll for a medium sized Company.\nWhy Join Trant?\nAt Trant Engineering, we deliver complex, high-value engineering and construction projects across the UK.
