With over 1,000 employees and a £150m turnover, we’re growing-and now looking for a Project Engineer to play a key role in our project delivery teams.\nThe Role\nAs a Project Engineer you would be responsible for supporting the technical delivery of projects assisting in design, construction, commissioning, and documentation, ensuring technical compliance, safety, and quality standards are maintained. You would work closely with site teams, clients, and internal stakeholders to support successful project execution.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nTechnical Responsibilities\nAssist in the preparation, review, and interpretation of drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.\nProvide technical support to site teams during construction and installation activities.\nIdentify and escalate technical issues or potential risks to Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager.\nCoordinate with design engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure constructability.\nReview design submissions and provide comments or recommendations. \nSupport implementation of design changes and revisions as required.\nEnsure completion of procurement in line with the project programme.\nHealth, Safety & Compliance\nEnsure all engineering activities comply with UK HSE regulations and company standards. \nContribute to risk assessments, method statements, and toolbox talks as required. \nMaintain accurate records of technical activities, site progress, and inspections. \nAssist in preparation of reports, technical submittals, and project documentation. \nSupport commissioning and handover documentation preparation. \nSupport site teams in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.\nStakeholder Management\nAct as a technical point of contact for site teams and subcontractors.\nLiaise with internal teams, clients, and consultants regarding project requirements and progress.\nAssist in planning and scheduling of project tasks in coordination with the project team. \nMonitor progress on-site and report deviations to Senior Project Engineer. \nSupport quality control and assurance activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications.\nCore Values\nUphold and promote the Company’s Core Values - Care, Trust, Respect and Sustainability.\nWhat We’re Looking For\n Essential\nBachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Process, or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent).\nUnderstanding of UK engineering standards, codes, and regulations relevant to water and process projects.\nHealth & Safety awareness relevant to construction and engineering projects (e.g., SSSTS or equivalent preferred).\nProficiency in technical documentation, drawings, and basic project software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project).\nProven experience as a Project Engineer or in a similar technical role on water, municipal, or industrial process projects.\nExperience providing technical support to site teams and assisting with design coordination.\nExperience preparing or reviewing project documentation, drawings, and technical reports.\nExperience ensuring compliance with UK HSE regulations and project quality standards.\n Desirable\nPostgraduate qualification or specialized training in water, wastewater, or industrial process engineering.\nExperience working in multi-disciplinary project teams across municipal, industrial, or water projects.\nWhy Join Trant?\nAt Trant Engineering, we deliver complex, high-value engineering and construction projects across the UK.
