With over 1,000 employees and a £150m turnover, we’re growing-and now looking for an Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in our project delivery teams.\n\nThe Role\nAs a Quantity Surveyo r you would be responsible for the management and analysis of the lifecycle costs of the project providing commercial and contract management support. You would work closely with project teams to assist with cost control and monitor costs, variation management, subcontract administration, administer contracts, and support timely, on-budget project delivery.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\n Technical Responsibilities - Commercial Support\nAssist in the administration of contracts, pricing and forecasting costs. \nInvolvement in preparation of tender documents, contracts, budgets and bills of quantities. \nSupport the preparation and management of variations, compensation events, and change orders. \nProvide guidance to project teams on contractual obligations and commercial procedures. Tracking changes to design and or construction works and adjust budget projections accordingly.\nProduction of subcontract procurement schedule selection. Administer subcontractor contracts, applications for payment, and variations. \nAssist with cost reporting, forecasts, and cash flow updates for work in progress and end cost forecasting.\nSupport final account preparation and submission.\n Compliance & Risk\nEnsure adherence to company policies, procedures, and client standards.\nMaintain accurate project records and documentation for audits and compliance.\nIdentify and escalate commercial risks to the Senior / Managing Quantity Surveyor. \nAssist in procurement processes and ensure subcontract agreements comply with head contracts.\n Stakeholder Engagement\nWork closely with project teams, site managers, and finance colleagues to support commercial decision-making.\nLiaise with subcontractors and suppliers on commercial matters as required. \nSupport mentoring and development of junior commercial team members, where applicable. Monitor subcontractor performance and highlight issues to the senior commercial team.\nCore Values\n\nUphold and promote the Company’s Core Values - Care, Trust, Respect and Sustainability.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nEssential\nDegree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering, or related discipline.\nExperience as a Quantity Surveyor in engineering, construction, or utilities projects.\nKnowledge of UK contract forms and commercial processes.\nBasic experience in cost control, subcontractor management, and variation administration.\nGood communication and stakeholder management skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities across projects and sites.\n Desirable\nChartered status (RICS / CICES) or working towards\nAdditional project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2)\nWhy Join Trant?\nAt Trant Engineering, we deliver complex, high-value engineering and construction projects across the UK.
