As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.\nSalary Range\n$139,400.00 - $230,000.00Target Openings\n1What Is the Opportunity?\nTravelers is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to join our organization as we grow and transform our Technology landscape. Individual will complete advanced software end to end engineering tasks that span many parts of a system including designing, developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting, and implementing based on user or system specifications. Individual will also consult with users to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications, manage the effective use of resources, act as subject matter expert across multiple applications, systems and technologies, leverage technical and business knowledge to drive the planning and execution of complex initiatives, participate in the design/ development process, and provide technical leadership, while leading a team of SWE.What Will You Do?\nDesign and deliver production-grade harness capabilities that engineering teams leverage to build and deploy generative AI, AWS applications. \nDrive architecture and system design for agentic components across multiple teams, advancing the technical patterns and engineering standards adopted across the enterprise. \nHelp teams align to enterprise standards and practices in source code management, testing, CI/CD, and modern engineering principles. \nAdvance test automation and raise the quality bar on the harness and the systems it serves.\nApply systems thinking to identify and resolve the cross-team dependencies and bottlenecks that slow delivery down. \nMentor engineers within the team and contribute reusable capabilities rather than one-off solutions. \nEngage directly in stakeholder conversations and translate technical direction into terms the business can act on. \nParticipate in cross-organizational engineering events and technical forums to share harness patterns and practices across the enterprise.\nPerform other responsibilities as assigned.\nWhat Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?\n4+ years of hands-on software development experience, including demonstrated production delivery of AI solutions you have supported at scale.\nProficiency in Python, with experience in additional languages such as TypeScript, particularly for building AI integrations. \nHands-on experience building, deploying, and evaluating generative AI applications, including the runtime concerns around them: orchestration, tool interfaces, context and memory management, and guardrails. \nExperience using agentic coding tools, with an informed point of view on where they help and where they fall short. \nHands-on experience across the cloud delivery stack: AWS and/or Azure, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code such as Terraform or CDK, and CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins. \nHands-on experience designing, delivering, and maintaining large, distributed, production-grade applications and secure-by-design development practices. \nSME-level depth in multiple technical disciplines, with the ability to get productive quickly in an unfamiliar codebase and operate across multiple projects at once. \nStrong communication skills with the ability to lead technical conversations with non-technical business stakeholders and translate complex capabilities into measurable business outcomes. \nExperience with agentic runtimes and harness platforms such as AWS AgentCore. \nObservability tooling and distributed tracing in production environments experience. \nWhat is a Must Have?\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience.\n6 additional years of software engineering experience.\nWhat Is in It for You?\nHealth Insurance: Employees and their eligible family members - including spouses, domestic partners, and children - are eligible for coverage from the first day of employment.\n Retirement: Travelers matches your 401(k) contributions dollar-for-dollar up to your first 5% of eligible pay, subject to an annual maximum.
