The candidate will work alongside a product team of electrical and mechanical engineers and report to the team lead.\nWe are looking for an exceptional CAD engineer with outstanding SolidWorks (or NX) skills who is passionate about building real machines. The ideal candidate is early in their career, learns quickly, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to take ownership of complex mechanical systems from concept through testing.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nDesign, build, and test every mechanical aspect of the machine, including structures, hydraulic systems, and chassis components.\n\nCreate high-quality 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings for production, assembly, and testing.\n\nOwn hardware through the product life cycle (design, analysis, build, and test) and interface with others to define design requirements and implement solutions. This includes soldiers in the field who will provide feedback to improve the machine.\n\nDesign and integrate subsystems for an autonomous mechanical machine operating in tunnels.\n\nResearch and select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods.\n\nCreate and maintain detailed tracking spreadsheets for system mass, cost, and build schedules for piece parts and assemblies.\n\nSupport qualification plans (e.g., acoustic, vibration, shock, static load, thermal testing) to verify structural and thermal safety margins and correlate results with analysis models.\n\nWork closely with production, suppliers, and technicians to rapidly iterate designs and solve engineering problems.\n\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\n3+ years of mechanical engineering experience.\n\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent hands-on engineering experience.\n\nExceptional proficiency in SolidWorks or NX. This is a must-have.\n\nStrong experience creating complex 3D CAD models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.\n\nStrong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and manufacturing processes.\n\nHighly motivated, self-driven, and eager to learn in a fast-paced startup environment.\n\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nExperience designing heavy equipment, robotics, autonomous systems, or industrial machinery.\n\nExperience with hydraulic systems and mechanical integration.\n\nDemonstrated skills in FEA for structural analysis (ANSYS, FEMAP/Nastran, or similar).\n\nExperience designing for machining, sheet metal, welding, and additive manufacturing.\n\nHands-on experience building, assembling, and testing mechanical systems.\n\nStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.\n\nExcellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.\n\nA portfolio of personal, academic, or professional engineering projects demonstrating exceptional CAD and mechanical design ability.\n\nITAR / EXPORT CONTROL REQUIREMENTS\nThis position requires access to technical data, software, and/or hardware controlled under U.S. export control laws, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
