Backed by Lux Capital and the founders of Anduril, the leading autonomous defense company, Traysar is reclaiming Western Deterrence by developing and deploying technologies for the 5th domain of warfare: the underground.\nJob Summary\nTraysar is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Engineer with deep expertise in hydraulic systems to join our team. This is a hands-on role focused on designing, building, integrating, and commissioning the hydraulic systems that power our autonomous heavy machinery.\nThe ideal candidate has extensive experience building hydraulic circuits from the ground up, selecting and integrating hydraulic components, plumbing complete hydraulic systems, and commissioning hydraulic power packs for heavy equipment or industrial machinery. The machines you help build will be deployed to destroy hundreds of miles of tunnels currently used for terrorist activities.\nYou will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers and report to the Mechanical Team Lead.\nResponsibilities\nOwn the design, build, and integration of complete hydraulic systems for autonomous heavy machinery.\n\nDesign and assemble hydraulic circuits, including hose routing, manifolds, valves, pumps, motors, cylinders, filters, reservoirs, accumulators, and instrumentation.\n\nSpecify, size, source, and integrate hydraulic power units (HPUs) and power packs to meet system performance requirements.\n\nDevelop hydraulic schematics and ensure they are translated into reliable, manufacturable hardware.\n\nCoordinate the transition from detailed design to manufactured hardware, taking full responsibility for bringing hydraulic systems into production.\n\nServe as the primary interface with hydraulic suppliers, hose manufacturers, machine shops, fabrication vendors, and other external partners.\n\nReview and approve manufacturing drawings, hydraulic schematics, BOMs, and assembly documentation before release.\n\nLead on-site assembly, plumbing, commissioning, bleeding, flushing, and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems.\n\nDiagnose and resolve hydraulic issues including pressure losses, flow restrictions, leaks, heat generation, contamination, and system instability.\n\nDevelop assembly procedures, inspection plans, test procedures, and production documentation for hydraulic systems.\n\nTrack component procurement, supplier lead times, system weight, cost, and production schedules.\n\nSupport machine testing, validation, and field operations, incorporating lessons learned into future designs.\n\nBasic Qualifications\n7+ years of professional experience working with hydraulic systems.\n\nDegree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.\n\nExtensive experience designing, building, plumbing, and commissioning hydraulic systems for heavy equipment, mobile machinery, construction equipment, mining equipment, agricultural equipment, or industrial machinery.\n\nStrong mechanical background with hands-on experience assembling and troubleshooting hydraulic equipment.\n\nExperience reading and creating hydraulic schematics and mechanical drawings.\n\nExperience working from 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings.\n\nPreferred Skills and Experience\nExtensive experience designing and assembling complete hydraulic power packs (HPUs).\n\nStrong understanding of hydraulic pumps, motors, proportional valves, servo valves, manifolds, accumulators, pressure control, flow control, filtration, and cooling systems.\n\nExperience selecting hydraulic components based on pressure, flow, duty cycle, efficiency, and reliability requirements.\n\nExperience routing hydraulic hoses and tubing for serviceability, manufacturability, and reliability.\n\nHands-on experience commissioning hydraulic systems, including flushing, bleeding, contamination control, and performance tuning.\n\nExperience troubleshooting complex hydraulic systems under field conditions.\n\nExperience working directly with hydraulic suppliers and component manufacturers.\n\nStrong understanding of manufacturing processes, tolerancing, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM/DFA).\n\nExperience working with CNC machining, welding, fabrication, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing suppliers.\n\nProficiency with NX or SolidWorks.\n\nExperience taking complex electromechanical systems from prototype through production.\n\nStrong organizational, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.\n\nInterview Process\nIf there is a mutual fit, we'll schedule two technical interviews. During the second interview, you'll present a project you are particularly proud of, with a strong emphasis on the hydraulic or mechanical systems you personally designed, built, integrated, or commissioned. Candidates who successfully complete the technical interviews will be invited for a final on-site interview.\nITAR / EXPORT CONTROL REQUIREMENTS\nThis position requires access to technical data, software, and/or hardware controlled under U.S. export control laws, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a \"U.S. person\" as defined in 22 C.F.R. § 120.62, which includes a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State (Directorate of Defense Trade Controls) and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce.
