In this role, you will maintain payroll records, reconcile payroll-related accounts, support financial close activities, and help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. You will partner closely with Human Resources, Finance, and external vendors to support payroll operations and respond to employee questions.\nYou will also help develop payroll practices and policies, strengthen internal controls, and improve processes while staying current on regulatory changes that affect payroll.\nWHAT YOU WILL DO\nProcess and review multi-state biweekly, semimonthly, or monthly payrolls for accuracy, completeness, and timely transmission.\nMaintain payroll records for employee earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits; conduct periodic data audits.\nPrepare and post payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll accounts, benefits, and tax liabilities.\nSupport month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including W-2 processing and payroll tax filings.\nHelp ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements; enter federal, state, and local tax information and verify employee tax coding.\nPartner with HR on employee changes, compensation adjustments, and benefits administration.\nPrepare payroll reports for management and auditors, coordinate payroll audits, and support reporting requests for 401(k), debt compliance, and workers’ compensation audits.\nMaintain relationships with the payroll processor, internal and external auditors, and local, state, and federal agencies.\nStay current on wage and hour requirements, garnishments, tax matters, 401(k), and other benefit deductions.\nFacilitate data transfers between the payroll and equity compensation systems and perform high-level reviews of commission payments submitted to payroll.\nFollow SOX internal controls, identify process improvements, and define standards for new payroll processes.\n Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.\nAt least five years of direct payroll processing experience or a combination of payroll and accounting experience.\nExperience processing multi-state payroll and supporting audits and monthly close.\nIn-depth knowledge of payroll administration, federal, state, and local tax regulations, and applicable HR, payroll, compensation, recordkeeping, and corporate requirements.\nExperience with SOX compliance and designing, implementing, and operating internal controls.\nIntermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, data validation, conditional formatting, filtering, sorting, and reporting; experience developing reports. \nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nExperience using ADP (highly preferred).\nExperience using NetSuite.\nCertified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.\n All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.\n Treace's Privacy Policy\nIt is Treace’s policy not to discriminate against any applicant for employment, or any employee because of age, color, sex, disability, national origin, race, religion, veteran status or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
