Working closely with the CTO and Head of Software Engineering, you'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact within our growing fintech business. This role offers the flexibility of remote work alongside visits to our offices in Mayfair, London.\nOur proprietary technology platform handles billions of dollars worth of our customers' investments every day, capturing all client orders and managing the entire investment cycle. Our backend services are built in [typed] Python3, backed by a Postgres database. This includes a proprietary workflow engine built around a Scheme-based workflow notation.\nOur frontend systems include our clean, simple web portal for client order capture and reporting, built in TypeScript and React; with server-side REST and GraphQL APIs written in Python3.\nRequirements\nWhat we’re looking for…\nEssential skills and experience:\n5+ years experience of developing complex applications using an OO language (ideally Python, but experience in C++ / C# / Java / etc would also be considered)\n\nExperience working on mission-critical applications, following a robust SDLC\n\nExcellent communication and problem-solving skills; and a strong aptitude for learning\n\nExperience and enthusiasm for test-automation and CI/CD\n\nStrong STEM degree or equivalent professional experience\n\nDesirable skills:\nDeep knowledge of Python, including any of the frameworks we currently use: Flask, SqlAlchemy, Alembic, Pydantic\n\nExperience with relational databases, ideally Postgres\n\nExperience of message-based architectures, and queuing technologies, i.e. RabbitMQ\n\nExperience of REST and/or GraphQL APIs\n\nKnowledge of the core AWS services: i.e. EC2 / ECS, RDS, S3\n\nExperience using DataDog or similar observability tools\n\nKnowledge of containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Fargate etc\n\nAny experience of front-end or fullstack development using TypeScript & React\n\nExperience building software for financial services and/or investment management organisations\n\nWe don’t expect candidates to have knowledge of all of the above, but we hope you’re keen to learn!\nWhat you’ll do: Responsibilities\nDesigning and developing mission-critical systems and applications that support our trading and investment operations, and our client-facing products.\n\nAnalysing requirements, proposing solutions, and designing software components and systems.\n\nWriting high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code.\n\nParticipating in code reviews, providing feedback to other team members and ensuring that coding standards and best practices are followed throughout the development process.\n\nMentoring and coaching less-experienced developers, helping them improve their skills, learn best practices, and grow professionally.\n\nCommunicating effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide updates on project progress.\n\nOptimising the performance of Python applications, identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies and implementing solutions to improve scalability, responsiveness, and efficiency.\n\nStaying updated on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in Python development and software engineering.\n\nWhat we offer: Benefits\nCompetitive salary, depending on experience\n\nEquity and bonus scheme\n\nUnlimited Paid Leave\n\nHybrid office-working model -
