You'll also support our engineers with CAD modeling, modifying mechanical designs, and preparing parts for fabrication and assembly.\nThis role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, is comfortable with CAD software, and takes pride in precise, high-quality work. You'll split your time between designing and modifying components on a computer and physically building and testing the hardware.\nYou don't need an engineering degree or years of experience. What matters most is that you're dependable, careful, mechanically inclined, and eager to learn. If you like working with your hands and want to help build real-world technology, we'd like to hear from you.\nWhat You'll Do:\nAssemble hardware systems using mechanical, electrical, and electronic components, including sensors, cameras, LiDAR, and power systems.\n\nCreate and modify 3D CAD models of mechanical parts, mounts, brackets, enclosures, and assemblies using software such as Onshape.\n\nWork with engineers to make CAD revisions, update designs, and prepare parts for 3D printing or fabrication.\n\nFollow assembly instructions, technical documentation, and build checklists to ensure consistent quality.\n\nInstall, mount, connect, and secure components using hand tools and basic power tools.\n\nInspect and test completed assemblies to identify defects, troubleshoot issues, and verify functionality.\n\nWork closely with engineers to resolve assembly challenges and improve build processes.\n\nHelp organize components, tools, and workstations to keep production running smoothly.\n\nTake ownership of your builds and ensure each system meets our quality standards before deployment.\n\nWho You Are:\nYou enjoy hands-on work and have a natural aptitude for building, assembling, or fixing things.\n\nYou're comfortable working in CAD. You have practical experience creating and modifying 3D models using SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, or similar software.\n\nYou're detail-oriented, patient, and take pride in getting things right, whether you're working on a CAD model or assembling hardware.\n\nYou're comfortable using basic hand tools and following step-by-step instructions.\n\nYou're reliable, organized, and able to work independently once trained.\n\nYou're comfortable asking questions and flagging problems when something doesn't look right.\n\nYou can work on-site at our Midtown Manhattan location.\n\nBonus points if you have experience with:\nElectronics assembly, wiring, soldering, or electromechanical systems.\n\nBuilding computers, robots, drones, or other hardware projects.\n\n3D printing or mechanical prototyping.\n\nCreating technical drawings or working with mechanical tolerances.\n\nManufacturing, quality control, or hardware testing.\n\nTechnical school, engineering coursework, maker projects, or similar hands-on hobbies.\n\nPrevious professional hardware assembly experience is a plus, but not required\n\nThe estimated salary range for this position is $25 - $35 USD per hour based on experience. Total compensation for this position is determined by skills, qualifications, relevant work experience, location, and other factors. This salary estimate excludes the value of any potential bonuses; the value of any benefits offered; and the potential future value of any long-term incentives.
