You would be responsible for conceiving, developing, producing, and maintaining radio products, mechanical solutions for tactical radios, accessories, and other communications equipment through all stages of their lifecycle. TrellisWare’s products are engineered to provide robust and reliable communication in harsh environments.\nThe essential duties and responsibilities include:\nPerform CAD design in SolidWorks.\nDevelop thermal models and perform thermal analyses of electronic and mechanical assemblies using FlowSimulation\nDesign and validate enclosure sealing solutions, including gasket and O-ring interfaces, to meet environmental and IP6X requirements.\nGenerate, review, and release engineering drawings and documentation, applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards.\nProduce assembly procedures and fixtures.\nTake ownership of the mechanical design of radio products and accessories.\nDefine, derive, and document mechanical system requirements.\nExplore feasibility and applicability of new technologies, materials, processes to add to our mechanical design toolkit on both new and existing designs.\nOversee creation and release of fabrication and assembly drawings.\nDesign, fabricate, and assemble prototypes and production fixtures to support product development, testing, and manufacturing.\nAnalyze designs for tolerance, yield, and environmental robustness.\nPlan and execute conceptual and detailed development efforts.\nExecute according to TrellisWare values (delivering excellence, empowering people and pushing boundaries).\nSupport TrellisWare development processes and continuously improve them.\nDevelop relationships with team members and cross-functional organizations built on trust and respect.\nEducation and work experience requirements are:\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field of study required. Master’s degree a plus.\nAt least 5 years of applicable product development and manufacturing engineering experience for high technology electronics/communication products.\nExperience across various engineering disciplines including electromechanical design preferred.\nTo be considered for this position, you would need to meet, at a minimum, the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed here:\nExperience designing portable, rugged devices that require balance between ruggedness, size/weight, and recurring cost. Experience with radios and/or DoD is a plus.\nUnderstand various materials (metal, plastic), fabrication processes (CNC machining, casting, molding, injection, etc.), and their cost/performance tradeoffs.\nExperience with electro-mechanical design considerations.\nExperience interfacing with Industrial Designers is a requirement. Personal Industrial Design skills are a plus.\nUnderstand low volume, medium volume, and high-volume product design considerations.\nDesign for manufacturing/Concurrent Engineering experiences.\nExperience in using SolidWorks and/or other 3D CAD software.\nExpertise in thermal modeling and thermal design considerations.\nDocumentation skills and proficiency with PC office applications.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nStrong collaborative drive and interpersonal skills.\nStrong initiative, proactive work ethic and prioritization skills.\nTrustable judgement and analytical problem-solving skills.\nEffective execution and decision making.\nChampion of change and innovation.\nThe physical demands described here represent those that must be met in order to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
