We develop complex, radiation effects mitigated, designs that balance competing requirements in modern space programs, delivering cutting-edge solutions that enable our customers to achieve more in space.\nPosition Summary\nWe are seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineer that will work within our production team to support the build and delivery of Space Flight products for the Space Electronic Systems sector.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nProvides engineering process support to the manufacturing of electromechanical assemblies for military and space applications, driving defect reduction, root cause activities, and daily interaction with technicians and operators.\nConduct various data analysis for capacity, throughput, and other relevant performance indicators.\nRecommend and implement process improvements, lean manufacturing techniques, and process flows to execute both production and development programs.\nWork with staff to ensure bench setups/layouts satisfy productivity demands, safety/ergonomics, and applicable employee suggestions.\nCreates detailed work instructions from engineering drawings for technicians to assemble, test, and inspect products accurately and repeatably.\nGenerate, investigate, and document non-conformances as required. Recommend disposition and supply rework instructions, if necessary.\nReview new designs for manufacturability. Ensure design compliance with standards and procedures to provide a consistent manufacturing process.\nSupport Material Review Board (MRB)/Failure Review Board (FRB) for the disposition of discrepant material/test failures and determination of root cause/corrective action. Ensure timely disposition of discrepant materials and other corrections.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field OR equivalent experience/combined education.\n4+ years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree OR 2+ years with a graduate degree (8 years of related experience can be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree).\nPreferred Qualifications\nManufacturing Engineering experience\nExperience in regulated/controlled electronic or mechanical manufacturing environment.\nSimilar experience working under an ISO 9000 or AS9100 quality system.\nRoot cause and corrective action methodology knowledge and experience.\nCAD/Solidworks experience.\nExperience with Configuration Management processes.\nAble to manage multiple projects and deadlines, ensuring schedules are defined and met.\nAbility to communicate with varying levels of technical expertise to ensure requirements are clear and met.\nTechnical writing and presentation skills.\nLean/Six Sigma training.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nOccasionally lifting up 25lbs exertion. Standing or sitting for extended periods of time.\nRepetitive Motion: Constantly operates computers and other office productivity machinery. May occasionally operate manufacturing equipment.\nWORKING CONDITIONS:\nESD production environment.
