Our talented staff of 650+ professionals deliver integrated planning, design, engineering and construction solutions to our clients from our offices throughout Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, West Virginia and Alabama.\nOverview:\nWe're looking for a Civil Engineering Group Manager to join our team in Columbus, OH, if you are not local to the area but open to relocating, we are willing to provide assistance to do such.\nThe ideal candidate for this position is someone who is passionate about delivering quality engineering solutions and tackling complex technical challenges. In this role, you'll lead the design and execution of our robust Site Development and Land Development project portfolio throughout the Midwest region. You'll play a hands-on role in the design process while also leading project teams -delegating work, providing technical guidance, and helping engineers successfully deliver high-quality results. From developing innovative solutions to overseeing project execution, you'll help ensure projects are completed efficiently, accurately, and with excellence at every stage.\nCompensation:\n- Full-time salaried with a base range of $140,000-$180,000\n- Sign-on bonus eligible position\n- After the completion of 12 months of employment with MSG, this position offers an additional stay on bonus to compensate all of year-one efforts.\nRelocation:\n\n- This position requires working out of our Columbus, OH office on a full-time basis. If you are not local to the Columbus area, MSG will offer a relocation package to alleviate any financial burdens.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead multiple design teams in daily operations\nDevelop staffing needs, distribute work to teams to level workload \nWork with team leaders/project managers to monitor overall health of projects (scope, schedule, budget, etc.)\nMonitor group workload, utilization, billable hours\nEnsure client relationships are strong and healthy\nWork with Civil Service Line leaders to identify additional staffing needs (i.e. training, personnel)\nMentor staff while executing office and company growth plan\nProposal / contract preparation and project management\nSuccessfully manage and deliver work tasks on time\nCoordinate with fellow MSG staff across a variety of professional services that MSG provides including Surveying, Environmental, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, Landscape Architecture, Funding Strategies/Grant Writing, and Construction Administration, etc.\nSkills, Knowledge and Expertise\nLead and oversee the office’s civil engineering team, supporting land development, site development, and commercial site design projects.\nManage day-to-day team operations, project execution, workload distribution, and staff performance to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.\nMentor and develop civil engineers and designers, providing technical guidance, career development, and opportunities for professional growth.\nOversee the planning, design, and delivery of private development projects, including site layout, grading, utilities, stormwater management, and SWPPP plans.\nReview and approve construction documents, including engineering plan sets, specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages, ensuring technical accuracy and quality.\nOversee feasibility studies, due diligence reports, zoning analyses, stormwater modeling and design, and detailed engineering plans.\nProvide technical leadership and quality control for civil design calculations, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies to support project approvals, client satisfaction, and long-term business growth.\nCollaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate resources, resolve technical challenges, and maintain project schedules and budgets.\nSupport business development efforts, including identifying new opportunities, developing client relationships, and contributing to proposals and project pursuits.\nFoster a culture of collaboration, accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across the office.\nBenefits\n401(k) w/ company match\nRelocation\nHealth insurance w/ HSA option, Vision, Dental, Life\nFlexible schedule\nPaid time off\nReferral program\nTuition reimbursement\n Catalytic Coaching - Employees draft a development plan aimed at improving contributions in their current job and increasing the potential for other opportunities.
