As a Drainage Project Engineer with 7-9 years of experience, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of drainage and stormwater infrastructure projects. This position offers the opportunity to lead technical efforts, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, buildable solutions for both public and private sector clients\nKey Responsibilities\nLead and contribute to the design of stormwater, drainage, and flood mitigation systems for land development and infrastructure projects\nPrepare and review drainage reports, technical calculations, plans, and specifications\nPerform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XP-SWMM, InfoDrainage, or similar)\nApply local, regional, and national drainage standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements\nIdentify and manage drainage-related risks, constraints, and opportunities throughout project development\nManage assigned project components from concept through detailed design and construction support\nCoordinate with civil, transportation, structural, and environmental teams to deliver integrated solutions\nReview contractor submittals and respond to RFIs during construction\nSupport development of cost estimates, schedules, and design optimizations\nCollaborate with clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies to obtain approvals and resolve technical issues\nParticipate in project meetings and present technical information clearly and confidently\nSupport proposal preparation, scope definition, and business development efforts as needed\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers\nReview work prepared by others to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency\nContribute to continuous improvement of standards, tools, and internal processes\nSkills, Knowledge and Expertise\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline\n7-9 years of progressive experience in drainage and stormwater engineering\nProfessional Engineer (PE / P.Eng. / CEng) license or actively working toward licensure\nStrong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, and drainage design principles\nProficiency with drainage and modeling software (e.g., Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, InfoDrainage, XP-SWMM, or equivalent)\nExperience working with public and private sector clients\nAbility to interpret survey data, geotechnical reports, and environmental constraints\nSolid knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and approval processes\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nAbility to manage priorities and work independently\nCollaborative mindset with a proactive, problem-solving approach\nHigh attention to detail with a focus on practical, constructible solutions\nBenefits\n At Horrocks, you can expect a competitive base salary and award-winning benefits.
