As a Roadway/Site Engineer-in-Training (EIT), you will support the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and site development projects while continuing to grow your technical and professional skills under the guidance of licensed Professional Engineers.\nWhat are the core responsibilities for the role?\nAssist with the preparation of roadway design plans, profiles, and cross sections using AutoCAD Civil 3D\nSupport design tasks related to grading, drainage, utilities, water, and sewer systems\nPrepare calculations, quantities, and exhibits in support of design development\nAssist with the development of technical memoranda, design plans, specifications, and reports\nSupport permitting and agency coordination efforts in various jurisdictions\nContribute to engineer’s opinions of probable cost and quantity takeoffs at various project stages\nPerform quality control checks on plans and documents under the supervision of a Professional Engineer\nCoordinate with project team members across multiple disciplines\nParticipate in client meetings, internal coordination meetings, and project reviews as appropriate\nProvide construction support services, including responding to RFIs and assisting with construction observation tasks\nQualifications, Skills, and Competencies:\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering\nEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe\n2-4 years of relevant civil engineering experience, with an emphasis on roadway or transportation design\nWorking knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office preferred\nFamiliarity with roadway geometry, drainage design, and utility coordination concepts\nAbility to follow established design standards, specifications, and agency requirements\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nOrganized, detail-oriented, and motivated to grow technically and professionally\nAbility to work effectively in a team environment and maintain positive working relationships\nExposure to municipal or state transportation projects preferred\nFamiliarity with local, state, or federal agency design standards preferred\nExperience supporting both public and private sector projects preferred\nWhy would a candidate want this job?\n At Horrocks, you can expect a competitive base salary and award-winning benefits.
