As a SUE Field Technician, you will support the Utah team by accurately collecting field data, managing multiple project tasks simultaneously, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to meet project deadlines.\nWhat are the core responsibilities for the role?\nObtain and maintain all required safety certifications. \nCommunicate clearly and professionally with project team members, client representatives, review agencies, and others as appropriate. \nOrganize field schedules and work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously to meet project deadlines and client needs. Execute field investigations to locate and identify existing utilities in coordination with the project team.\nOperate or assist with vacuum excavation equipment to safely expose utilities for verification and documentation.\nDesignate (locate) existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies in accordance with ASCE 38 standards. \nAccurately and efficiently collect field data. \nCoordinate with supervisor to ensure client-specific requirements are being met both in the office and in the field. \nRead and interpret utility records, as-built and survey drawings, and highway design plans. \nPerform other tasks as assigned to support project delivery and company objectives. \nMust be able to lift 75 pounds, walk for extended periods, and work in all weather conditions, be willing to work evenings/weekends when required, and be willing to travel for overnight and extended stay projects as required. \nAble to occasionally travel out of town and work overtime. \nQualifications, Skills, and Competencies:\nThis position requires the operation of a company vehicle. All candidates must hold a valid driver’s license and will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check. Employment is contingent upon meeting Horrocks' Fleet & Safety minimum requirements. Candidates will be asked to provide consent for the MVR check as part of the hiring process.\n0-8 years’ SUE Tech experience, or 0-10 years providing utility designating/locating services \nAbility to quickly learn SUE field procedures, equipment operation, and quality standards through on-the-job training. \nGPS survey a plus. \nExperience excavating around utilities a plus. \nLand surveying a plus. \nHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent. Additional schooling or training is a plus. \nSolid work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a team-player attitude. \nStrong work ethic and professional demeanor - Clear, professional communication with diverse stakeholders - Collaborative team approach; ability to work with internal teams, clients, and utility owners - Meticulous attention to detail in documentation and data quality. \nMust be able to quickly learn and operate new technologies with minimal training. \nShould be able to walk long distances of several miles daily. \nGood driving skills and a clean driving record. \nAble to work in teams and get along with coworkers. \nOutdoor work in all climates. \nWork with clients in a professional manner. \nThorough understanding of ASCE 38 guidelines and associated quality levels is a plus. \nStrong computer and technical skills; Auto CAD, MicroStation, or similar application is a plus. \nCompetency in basic math and measurement calculations for field work. \nObtain and maintain DOT medical card. \nWhy would a candidate want this job?\n At Horrocks, you can expect a competitive base salary and award-winning benefits.
