This role is ideal for an engineer with 4+ years of experience who is ready to expand technical depth, take ownership of design tasks, and contribute meaningfully to project success.\nThe Traffic Engineer will work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver thoughtful, high-quality traffic design solutions that improve safety and mobility for communities.\nWhat are the core responsibilities for the role?\nAnalysis, design, and plan sheet preparation of signing, striping, and MOT/traffic control for interstates, freeways, highways, interchanges, and intersections\nPrepare clear and accurate studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and estimates from start to finish with minimal oversight\nFunction as a technical specialist on small to mid-scale projects\n Coordinate and lead traffic discussions with the project team, clients, and stakeholders\nCoordinate and work within a team of project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to successfully complete a variety of transportation projects\nAssist in managing assignments, workloads, and training/mentoring of traffic group staff \nAssist in coordination with other managers and leads to share resources\nQualifications, Skills, and Competencies:\nBachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university\nProfessional Engineering (PE) licensure\n4 - 8 years experience in traffic engineering design with a focus on signing and MOT\nKnowledge and experience with Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, SignCAD, and other applicable software common to the field of transportation engineering\nHands-on experience with Synchro/SimTraffic, Vistro, and/or Vissim preferred\nExperience in roadway design is preferred\nExperience with DOT’s plan preparation procedures and standards\nExperience and understanding of local, regional, state, and federal design criteria\nExcellent written and oral communication skills\nOutstanding interpersonal and customer service skills\nSelf-motivated with solid organizational skills and attention to detail\nAbility to interact and work cooperatively with client and multi-disciplinary team members\nA desire to grow personally and professionally with each project while working in a team environment to create designs and drawings supporting our client’s overall project goals\nWhy would a candidate want this job?\n At Horrocks, you can expect a competitive base salary and award-winning benefits.
