You may just be the right candidate for this or other roles.\nJOB SUMMARY\nTriNet is seeking a Product Manager to own and drive the payroll product area within its HR services platform. This role sits at the intersection of payroll domain expertise and modern product craft - translating complex compliance, tax, and pay-processing requirements into intuitive, reliable, and scalable product experiences for employers and their employees.\nThe ideal candidate combines deep payroll domain knowledge with strong product thinking and the ability to work across engineering, design, operations, and compliance teams to deliver outcomes end-to-end across the product development lifecycle.\nKey Responsibilities:\nOwn the product roadmap for the payroll domain - from discovery through delivery and adoption - aligning with business strategy and customer needs.\nTranslate payroll, tax, and compliance requirements into clear, prioritized product requirements (PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria).\nPartner with engineering and design as a single-threaded owner to scope, sequence, and ship features with quality and on time.\nDrive payroll accuracy, run-cycle reliability, and exception/error handling as first-class product concerns.\nUse data and product analytics (especially Pendo) to measure adoption, identify friction, and inform prioritization.\nManage the run-the-business (RTB) backlog alongside roadmap initiatives, balancing defect resolution with strategic investment.\nEngage stakeholders across operations, customer success, compliance, and leadership; communicate trade-offs in clear, decision-ready language.\nStay current on payroll regulations, multi-jurisdiction tax handling, and competitive/industry trends to inform product direction.\nRequired Qualifications:\n7-10 years of total experience with 4+ years in product management, ideally for B2B SaaS or HR/fintech platforms.\nDemonstrable payroll domain depth - pay calculation, tax withholding, deductions, garnishments, off-cycle/on-cycle runs, and compliance.\nExperience building or managing products in HCM, HRIS, payroll, benefits, or PEO/ASO environments.\nStrong product thinking: problem framing, prioritization, and the ability to balance customer, business, and technical constraints.\nProven ability to write crisp PRDs/user stories and partner effectively with engineering and design.\nExcellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills.\nComfort with product analytics and data-informed decision-making.\nBachelor's degree; equivalent practical experience considered.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with US payroll and multi-state tax compliance, or comparable regulated payroll markets.\nExposure to PEO (Professional Employer Organization) or ASO (Administrative Services Organization) models.\nFamiliarity with payroll integrations - GL, time & attendance, benefits, and tax-filing partners.\nExperience with analytics tools such as Pendo, and discovery practices for B2B products.\nPrior work on platforms serving small and mid-sized businesses (SMB) at scale.\nCore Competencies:\nDomain credibility - can hold their own with payroll operations and compliance experts.\nOwnership - drives outcomes end-to-end rather than executing tickets in isolation.\nClarity - frames decisions, trade-offs, and edge cases in PM-ready, stakeholder-friendly language.\nCustomer obsession - anchors prioritization in real user problems and measurable impact.\nWork Environment\nWork in a clean, pleasant, and comfortable office work setting.
