Responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, all aimed at supporting surgeons and nurses in delivering safe and effective patient care. From preparing operating rooms, to assisting during surgeries and maintaining a sterile environment, the expertise of a CST is essential to the success of each operation.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nCertifications/licensure required in state performing services:\n\nIn Idaho: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the NBSTSA or as a Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) by the NCCT\n\nIn Oregon: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the NBSTSA or as a Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) by the NCCT\n\nAt hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS)\n\nOther certifications may be required as identified in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk\n\nOne year of scrub experience in an acute care hospital setting is preferred.\n\nPosition Highlights:\nSchedule: Position is guaranteed 40 hours a week, working 7 days on and 7 days off with rotating shifts.\n\nBenefits: Position is not eligible for PTO accrual, but is eligible for other day 1 benefits such as health insurance and retirement programs.\n\nTeam Environment: The culture in our Boise Main OR is inspired by our mission as a non-profit value-oriented organization. Have the opportunity to be a part of our elite surgical team and save lives!\n\n What You Will Do:\nDemonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric as applicable).\n\nDemonstrates compliance with hospital safety policies and procedures.\n\nDemonstrates knowledge of cautery safety (grounding pad and cautery use during procedure).\n\nRecognizes breaks in aseptic technique and takes immediate corrective action.\n\nDemonstrates equipment checks to assure proper functioning.\n\nUpdates and reviews surgeon preference cards.\n\nAble to gown and glove other members of the perioperative 'sterile' team.\n\nAble to gown and glove self through use of closed and open method.\n\nAble to independently function in at least one other specialty area.\n\nAnticipates and prioritizes surgeon needs. Communicates with RN Circulator to obtain needed resources. LPNs may function under the Nurse Practice Action with RN supervision.\n\nResponsible for technical equipment and supplies (e.g., inventory, usage, organization, maintenance in own specialty area).\n\nTrouble-shoots equipment within own specialty to bring to resolution.\n\nIndependently manages instrument, sponge and sharp counts for all procedures in specialty areas and all procedures assigned outside of specialty.\n\nAssists and/or follows direction of the RN Circulator to set up a room and obtain equipment, etc.\n\nHighlights and Benefits: \nWhen Saint Alphonsus takes care of you, you can take better care of our patients.
