Position Purpose
The Medication History Technician (MHT) will gather medication histories through patient/family/significant other interviews for patients arriving via the Emergency Department to be admitted to our hospital. The technician will utilize the hospital’s electronic health record system to document the patient’s current medication list.
What you will do
Perform medication histories on patients admitted to the hospital through the Emergency Department
Maintain regular communication with admitting providers, Emergency Department nursing staff and Emergency Department provider staff
Contribute to program optimization and provide feedback to Lead Medication History Technician and/or supervisor as needed
Reviews over the counter drugs and herbals/supplements
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required
State of Connecticut Pharmacy Technician Registration required.
Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required within one year of date of hire
Minimum of two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail setting or equivalent experience required
Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and metrics system
Bilingual in Spanish, preferred
Position Highlights and Benefits
