This leader will be responsible for the clinical, operational, and strategic oversight of the nursing float pool while supporting workforce optimization across the hospital.\nThe Nurse Manager will lead the continued expansion and development of a highly skilled float pool team that supports multiple patient care areas, ensuring safe staffing, operational efficiency, exceptional patient outcomes, and an outstanding colleague experience. This role works closely with Nursing Leadership, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and hospital operations to develop innovative staffing strategies, improve resource utilization, and strengthen workforce flexibility throughout the organization.\nWhat You Will Do\nProvide operational and clinical leadership for the hospital's nursing float pool and centralized staffing functions.\nLead recruitment, onboarding, retention, engagement, and professional development of float pool nurses and support staff.\nDevelop and execute strategic plans to expand float pool utilization across inpatient and specialty areas.\nOversee centralized staffing and scheduling processes to ensure safe, equitable, and cost-effective staffing coverage.\nMonitor staffing plans, productivity, patient acuity, and census trends to optimize workforce deployment.\nCollaborate with nursing and operational leaders to identify staffing challenges and implement proactive solutions.\nEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, organizational policies, and professional nursing practice standards.\nUtilize staffing data, quality metrics, and workforce analytics to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.\nFoster a culture of accountability, teamwork, professional growth, and relationship-based care.\nSupport organizational goals related to colleague experience, patient satisfaction, quality outcomes, and financial stewardship.\nPromote evidence-based practice, patient safety initiatives, and nursing excellence throughout the organization.\nPartner with education, clinical leadership, and shared governance teams to support onboarding, competency validation, and ongoing clinical development of float pool staff.\nServe as a change leader for staffing innovation, workforce flexibility, and operational transformation initiatives.\nResponsibilities\nDirect management and supervision of Float Pool colleagues.\nAccountability for hiring, coaching, performance management, employee engagement, and succession planning.\nManagement of staffing resources, schedules, staffing systems, and labor optimization initiatives.\nDevelopment and implementation of departmental goals aligned with organizational priorities.\nCollaboration with interdisciplinary teams to support patient-centered care delivery across multiple service lines.\nFinancial management including labor productivity, budgeting, overtime reduction, and resource stewardship.\nParticipation in hospital-wide committees, quality initiatives, and strategic workforce planning efforts.\nWhat You Will Need\nMinimum Qualifications\nGraduate of an accredited school of nursing.\nCurrent Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Connecticut.\nBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.\nMinimum three (3) years of progressive nursing leadership experience.\nDemonstrated experience in staffing, scheduling, workforce management, or operational nursing leadership.\nStrong knowledge of healthcare operations, regulatory requirements, quality metrics, and patient safety principles. Preferred Qualifications\nMaster of Science in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.\nExperience leading float pool, staffing office, centralized scheduling, patient placement, or resource management teams.\nExperience with staffing and scheduling software systems.\nCertification in Nursing Leadership preferred.\nExperience in a complex acute care hospital environment.\nCompensation & Benefits\nAt Trinity Health, we recognize that our colleagues are the foundation of our mission.
