Description:

Student Radiologic Technologist

The Student Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures on patients of all ages in accordance with approved protocols, radiation safety standards, and established examination criteria. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate patient and procedure documentation, ensuring the proper use and care of imaging equipment and supplies, and delivering effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Travel between assigned sites may be required.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in an ARRT-recognized Radiologic Technology program.
  • Employees who discontinue enrollment in an ARRT-recognized program during employment must immediately notify their supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Previous patient care experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.

Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Military Training Network is required upon hire, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS or otherwise defined by the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of radiographic procedures, patient positioning, and radiation safety principles.
  • Ability to operate imaging equipment and maintain familiarity with related instruments and supplies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients of varying ages, backgrounds, and cognitive abilities.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and follow established protocols and procedures.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, quality care, and service excellence.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrate and uphold the organization's Mission, Vision, and Values through daily behaviors, practices, and decision-making.
  • Provide compassionate, age-appropriate care to all patient populations, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, as applicable.
  • Perform ordered imaging procedures according to departmental policies, protocols, and quality standards, ensuring timely and accurate diagnostic exams.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient, procedure, and revenue-related documentation to support proper charge capture and billing processes.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of medications, contrast agents, and other supplies used during procedures, as applicable.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of instruments, equipment, and supplies necessary for patient care and imaging services.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining sterile technique and a safe procedural environment when required.
  • Adhere to all radiation safety regulations, infection prevention standards, and departmental policies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members to support positive patient outcomes and experiences.
  • Maintain competency in the operation and care of imaging equipment to support the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services.
  • Travel between designated sites as needed to support departmental operations.
