This position is contingent upon continuous funding.Position: College Adviser for Trinity University’s College Advising Corps -multiple openings. The position will remain open until all positions are filled.\nThis position flat rate is dependent on start date with the program. The person selected for this role MUST reside in Texas and have transportation to school site.\nThe College Advisor serve local high schools in San Antonio. Working alongside high school and district staff, the adviser will assist students with college admissions, financial aid, and scholarship applications to help student realize their dream of attending college.\nReports to: Sarah Ramos, Project Director, in conjunction with an on-site liaison at the assigned high school above.\nThe College Advisor will serve at local partnership high school in San Antonio or the surrounding area. Working alongside high school and district staff, the adviser will assist students with college admissions, financial aid, and scholarship applications to help student realize their dream of attending college.\nQualifications and Characteristics\nUnquestioned personal integrity, credibility, maturity, and work ethic\n\nEnergy, enthusiasm and self-confidence in building relationships with students, public school partners, the university and the state and national organizations\n\nFlexibility and adaptability in work styles and structures\n\nAbility to collaborate creatively and effectively with a variety of people to solve problems and reach goals\n\nPassion for making college access available to all students and for serving the community\n\nExcellent organizational and communication skills, including the ability to listen carefully and to write and speak persuasively\n\nResponsibilities\nProvide one-on-one admissions and financial aid advice to any student or family seeking assistance\n\nOrganize group events that encourage students and their families to consider, plan for, and apply to colleges and universities\n\nEstablish productive working relationships with principals, counselors, and teachers in the assigned high school\n\nAssist in the efforts of other advisers within the service area\n\nAssist in the assessment and long-term sustainability of the program\n\nMaintain expertise in admissions and financial-aid advising (extensive training will be provided)\n\nWeekend and evening commitments will be expected\n\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.\n\nExperience in working in a high school environment in similar role recommended\n\nDemonstration of excellent written and verbal communication as well as strong interpersonal skills\n\nProficiency in the use of computers for communication, research, and administrative recordkeeping\n\nAdvisors will be expected to live within the service area and to involve themselves in the surrounding San Antonio community\n\nAdvisors will need to provide their own transportation to the school site as well as to related events\n\nExperience working with high school students preferred\n\nBilingual (Spanish / English) candidates preferred but not required\n\nTrinity graduates who are the first in their family to graduate from college are highly encouraged to apply\n\nCompensation (contingent upon grant funding)\nThis a paid AmeriCorps position that provides the candidate with a monthly $2,745 living stipend, AmeriCorps healthcare, and sick/vacation leave during their term. The is an 11-month appointment with an August 10, 2026 start date (subject to change). Upon successful completion of the appointment of\nservice and 1,700 required hours of service, the advisor may be eligible for an Education Award of $7,395 to use towards federal undergraduate student loans and/or a graduate education. Candidates may also receive an extension for a\n2nd year of service upon successful completion of service.
