Collaborating closely with product, development, and DevOps teams, the Principal Software Test Engineer conducts performance testing, identifies system bottlenecks, and recommends optimizations. Additionally, this role provides technical mentorship, contributes to team capability-building, and continuously improves quality assurance processes and operational excellence.\nWHAT YOU WILL DO\nAutomation & Engineering (Core IC Work - 50%)\nHelp Develop and maintain scalable and reusable test automation frameworks for Web, API, and Thick Client applications.\nBuild and enhance automation solutions to improve test coverage, reliability, and execution efficiency.\nEnsure CI/CD readiness, enabling seamless integration of automated tests into pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).\nContribute to code reviews and continuous improvement of automation assets.\nManual Testing (Core IC Work - 50%)\nDesign, execute, and maintain comprehensive manual test plans, test cases, and test suites for Web, API, and Thick Client applications.\nPerform functional, regression, exploratory, and integration testing to ensure product quality and coverage.\nCollaborate with development and product teams on acceptance criteria, edge cases, and defect validation.\nIdentify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps and expected versus actual results.\nDriving Automation Excellence\nHelp drive adoption of automation frameworks and best practices across teams within the Business Unit.\nCollaborate with teams to identify automation opportunities and improve overall test strategy.\nAdvocate for shift-left testing and early quality validation.\nPerformance & Quality Engineering\nDesign and execute performance and load testing using JMeter.\nAnalyse system performance, identify bottlenecks, and provide recommendations for optimization.\nMentorship & Collaboration\nMentor and support QA engineers in test automation concepts, tools, scripting, and best practices - serving as a senior technical resource and go-to person for automation guidance within the team.\nProvide technical guidance without direct people management responsibilities.\nCollaborate with product, development, and DevOps teams to ensure alignment on quality goals.\nContribute to knowledge sharing and capability building within the team.\nOperational Excellence\nParticipate in planning, estimation, and requirement analysis.\nDefine and contribute to quality metrics and automation effectiveness tracking.\nTroubleshoot complex issues across application, database, and infrastructure layers.\n\nWHO YOU ARE\n\n· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent.\n· 8-12 years of experience in software testing with balanced expertise across both manual and automation testing.\n· Proven experience as a senior individual contributor in quality engineering/automation.\n· Solid hands-on experience in test automation with the ability to guide and mentor team members on automation practices, tool usage, and best practices - framework design expertise is not required.\n· Hands-on expertise in:\nØ Web automation (Selenium / Playwright / Cypress)\nØ API automation (REST Assured / Postman / similar tools)\nØ Thick client / desktop automation (Test Complete)\n· Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.\n· Experience in performance testing using JMeter.\n· Proficiency in Java, Python, JS or similar programming languages.\n· Experience with JIRA or similar test/defect management tools.\n· Solid understanding of databases (Oracle, SQL Server) and SQL queries.\n· Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.\n· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\n· Ability to debug and troubleshoot complex systems.\n· Experience working in enterprise-scale applications/products.\n· Ability to influence without authority and drive adoption of best practices.\n· Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams.\n· Passion for mentoring team members, particularly in test automation, and enabling others to grow their technical skills.\n· Ability to balance hands-on execution with broader quality impact.\nHeadquartered in Plano, Texas, Trintech has offices located across the United States, India, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, and Singapore, as well as strategic partners in South Africa, Latin America, and the Asia Pacific\nAt our core, Trintechers stand committed to fostering a culture rooted in our core values - Humble, Empowered, Reliable, and Open.
