Your work will involve advanced mathematical modelling, spectral analysis, filtering, detection, and statistical signal processing.\nWe are particularly interested in engineers who enjoy exploring signals, understanding their underlying physical characteristics, and pushing the boundaries of what can be extracted through classical signal-processing techniques.\nThis is a research-intensive, hands-on engineering position with significant technical freedom and ownership.\nYou will work closely with our embedded software, electronics, and AI teams, taking ideas from mathematical concepts through experimental validation and practical implementation.\n\nKey ResponsibilitiesResearch, design, and implement advanced digital signal-processing algorithms.\n\nAnalyze complex acoustic signals in both time and frequency domains.\n\nDevelop techniques for spectral analysis, digital filtering, noise reduction, and signal detection.\n\nApply statistical signal processing and estimation theory to extract meaningful information from noisy measurements.\n\nInvestigate new signal-processing approaches and evaluate their performance using real-world data.\n\nDevelop efficient implementations of algorithms for practical applications.\n\nDesign experiments, analyze results, and continuously improve algorithm performance.\n\nCollaborate with our multidisciplinary engineering team to integrate signal-processing solutions into operational systems.\n\nQualificationsWe value technical ability, curiosity, and problem-solving skills more than specific degrees or years of experience.\nWe would like you to have:\nAn MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.\n\nA strong theoretical foundation in digital signal processing.\n\nExperience with spectral analysis, FFT, digital filters, and time-frequency analysis.\n\nKnowledge of statistical signal processing, detection theory, and estimation methods.\n\nExperience developing and evaluating signal-processing algorithms.\n\nStrong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, and/or C++.\n\nExperience working with real-world measurement data, including noisy or low-SNR signals.\n\nThe ability to independently investigate complex technical problems and develop practical solutions.\n\nIt would be an advantage if you have experience with:\nAcoustic signal processing.\n\nAdaptive filtering and advanced noise-reduction techniques.\n\nPassive sensing systems.\n\nReal-time or embedded DSP.\n\nAdvanced mathematical modelling and numerical methods.\n\nSignal processing within defence, aerospace, telecommunications, or scientific instrumentation.\n\nAcademic research, including publications or a PhD in a relevant field.\n\nExperience in the defence industry is not required.
