Fueling innovation and improving lives, we are committed to accelerating discovery and shaping a better world.\nTRIUMF's Applied Technology Group is looking to hire a fully qualified and experienced Technician who will be tasked with the maintenance, repair, improvement and calibration of the ventilation systems and related components and equipment.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nMaintenance, repair and calibration of nuclear ventilation system and components\nProvides input for proper operation and improvements of the RCA ventilation and control systems\nMaintenance and repair of building systems such as ventilation, heating, domestic water and compressed air systems\nIn consultation with experts, contributes to design changes and improvements to the nuclear ventilation system\nPrepares and maintains work procedures for testing and calibration\nDemonstrates and instructs users in the usage and operation of the nuclear ventilation system\nMaintains, repairs and improves the DOC system\nFollows all applicable safety regulations and is responsible for the proper implementation of these requirements\nMay oversee the work of other personnel and junior-level technicians\nKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:\nIndependent thinking, using initiative, sound judgment and the application of latest standards and knowledge in resolving complex design and/or operational problems is expected.\nDemonstrated and up to date knowledge of HVAC systems, electromechanical systems, and controls is required to solve technical problems related to complex building mechanical systems for cyclotron operation\nAbility to apply knowledge and experience to the design, calibration, testing and manufacturing of relevant components/systems as per operational requirements\nKnowledge and understanding of control systems relating to HVAC, cooling systems and electrical power distribution systems is required to maintain system operation\nExperience with calibration of sensors and instrumentation used on building systems\nDemonstrated ability to use specialized techniques to solve problems, and adapt and react appropriately to new situations\nIncumbent must have good oral and written communication skills, hands-on mechanical aptitude and be able to work well under stress\nNUCLEAR ENERGY WORKER:\nThe incumbent will be required to complete the TRIUMF in-house radiation safety training course and be designated as a TRIUMF Nuclear Energy Worker.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:\nA technology diploma in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field from a technical college or institute,\nAt least of 4 years of relevant and practical work experience.\nSalary: $70,380.00 per annum plus our comprehensive employer-paid benefits plan\nApplicants must be legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).\nPosition type:\nPermanentTotal Rewards\nAt TRIUMF, we value our employees and are committed to providing a competitive total rewards package.
