With approximately 700 employees across three locations: West Hartford, CT; Windsor, CT; and Forest, OH, we design and manufacture advanced Thermal, Hydraulics & Actuation, Electronics, and Hydromechanical solutions that power some of the world’s most demanding aerospace applications.\nPosition Summary\nThe Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the manufacturing plant, including cost accounting, month-end close, inventory valuation, and financial reporting. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial data to support plant operations, cost control, and decision-making by plant leadership and corporate finance. The Senior Accountant collaborates with operations & other cross-functional teams, assists with audits and contributes to process improvements that enhance efficiency and integrity of financial operations.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nPrepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP\nOversee cost accounting functions, including standard costing, variance analysis, and product costing\nManage inventory accounting, including cycle counts, physical inventory reconciliation, and obsolescence reserves\nPerform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals\nAnalyze manufacturing variances (labor, material, overhead) and report findings to plant management\nSupport annual budgeting and forecasting processes, including capital expenditure tracking\nMaintain and improve internal controls related to plant accounting and inventory\nPartner with operations, production, and supply chain teams to provide financial insight and support cost-reduction initiatives\nAssist with internal and external audits, including preparation of supporting schedules\nEnsure compliance with corporate accounting policies, tax regulations, and sound internal control practices\nReconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner\nSupport fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals\nIdentify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations\nPartnering with AP, AR, payroll, and operations to ensure proper treatment\nRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities\nBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field\n5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-3 in a manufacturing environment\nERP & systems proficiency\nAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling)\nSolid knowledge of GAAP and internal control frameworks\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\nDesired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities\nOperational accounting experience (fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, inventory)\nInfor Syteline experience\nHigh technical aptitude\nPrior AR experience\nPrior audit experience\nPhysical Requirements:\nThese physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
