Supervision of shifts or multiple departments to maintain production schedules with quality product and on time delivery. Responsibilities include direction and training of employees, maintenance of equipment, monitoring inventory levels and enforcement of health, safety, and environmental policies.\nAreas of Focus\nSupervisor of Production meets production objectives through assigned personnel meeting or exceeding established quality objectives, within all regulatory guidelines, and within established costs.\nResponsibilities\nSchedules production to assure a minimum of problems and delays, material shortages or equipment delays\nAnticipates problems and delays for production schedules and corrects through problem solving and trouble shooting\nAssigns work to meet manufacturing requirements\nControls labor and materials usage to meet or improve standard costs\nAccurately reports events regarding production schedules and employees by monitoring individual production reports and correlating them to group reports\nArranges for proper maintenance of machines and equipment\nContinuously improves processes\nUnderstands principles of continuous improvement\nHas functional use of various methods of continuous improvement\nKnows the objectives being pursued within his/her area of responsibility in continuous improvement\nApplies tools of continuous improvement within area of responsibility\nDeals effectively with union-represented and non-represented personnel\nCommunicates daily with subordinate employees\nOrients new employees to department, shift, etc.\nFamiliarizes personnel with Company rules and regulations\nInstructs and trains employees and motivates them to be quality oriented, safety conscious, efficient and to strive for continuous improvement and ISO 9000\nCoaches and counsels’ employees as necessary\nAdministers union agreement\nHas a working understanding of the Union contract and management’s obligations under the National Labor Relations Act\nIdentify issues regulated by the contract or labor law and obtain guidance on how to properly respond either through research of the contract or other sources or through appropriate management personnel\nUnderstands the Transfer procedure in the Union contract. Manages work within area of responsibility to minimize bid/bump situations\nInforms General Production Supervisor and Human Resources when permanent transfer occurs\nUnderstands the Overtime provision of the Union contract and properly canvasses and documents activities\nHas a working understanding of the plants rules and Corporate policies dealing employee behavior and respond appropriately to matters governed by these policies\nHandles grievances at first step\nProvides training to subordinates in work practices, quality, etc\nMaintains good employee relations through counseling and proper application of employee relation policies\nHandles disciplinary matters through written warning step\nSeeks counsel/advice for higher level disciplinary matters\nAdministers the health environmental and safety program in the work center; enforces health environmental and safety standards, work practices and housekeeping\nMeets all ethical, regulatory, etc., standards for position\nUnderstands blood lead program for areas of responsibility\nCoaches/counsels/disciplines as necessary to meet\nEnsures that Quality Systems and Protocols are followed\nHandles all administrative duties/paperwork\nInvestigates material variances and reports result of investigation to General Manufacturing Supervisor\nPrepares all required reports\nMay do one or more of the following;
