This leader will manage a team of FPGA engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-reliability, radiation-tolerant designs meeting rigorous aerospace and defense standards. Reporting to the Director of Avionics, this role will encompass technical contribution, as well as people management. The successful candidate will be an expert in high speed digital interfaces and spacecraft FPGA design and validation, incorporating experience with best practices, and balanced technical judgement. You will work closely with True Anomaly’s electrical engineering and embedded & flight software development teams to build a robust solution for spacecraft operation. You will be responsible for building design and verification pipelines, performing technical trades, and ensuring on-time delivery of your product.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nBuild, manage, and mentor an FPGA engineering team for spacecraft devices\nDrive the design of FPGAs/SoCs/SoMs and integration of those designs into end item products\nDefine FPGA development roadmaps aligned with spacecraft system needs\nOwn end-to-end FPGA design activities: requirements capture, architecture, functional block definition, simulation, synthesis, timing closure, verification, and hardware integration\nDevelop full systems solutions, including memory interfaces, high speed buses, clock domains, and signal integrity analyses.\nManage and communicate product development status and issues across entire Product Development Life-Cycle through reviews and demonstrations\nDrive adherence to radiation-hardening and defense/aerospace FPGA development standards.\nCollaborate cross-functionally with systems, software, avionics, and test teams to ensure FPGA functionality integrates seamlessly with the spacecraft\nEstablish best practices in design reviews, configuration management, and verification methodologies\nManage schedules, budgets, and technical risk within the FPGA development domain\nQUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field.\n10+ years of professional experience with FPGA development and 5+ year of experience with spacecraft systems\nPrevious experience as a technical team lead\nDeep expertise with VHDL/Verilog, simulation tools, timing analysis, and FPGA synthesis flows\nFamiliarity with Zynq Ultrascale+, ProASIC 3, PolarFire, SmartFusion 2, Artix7, etc. technologies\nExperience with high-speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, SpaceWire)\nFamiliarity with fault-tolerant/redundant design methods (A/B failover, triple modular redundancy, etc.)\nUnderstanding of radiation effects on digital logic and mitigation strategies\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE\nExperience with analog and digital electrical design practices\nFamiliarity with lab debug tools (power supplies, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)\nFamiliarity with procedural programming languages, such as C, C++, python\nExperience debugging system level interactions in a HIL/SIL environment\nCOMPENSATION\nBase Salary: $140,000 - $215,000\nEquity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave \nYour actual level and base salary will be determinedon a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience. \nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS\nWork Location -Successful candidates will be located near Centennial or Long Beach, CA.
