Matrix is an equal opportunity employer.\nOur Arizona Water Services group focuses on hydrogeological and environmental consulting with offices in Phoenix and Prescott, and remote staff located in North and South America. The ideal candidate will participate in groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling and support hydrogeologic investigations for water resources and environmental consulting projects.\nWhat You'll Do\nBuild, calibrate, and apply numerical groundwater flow and solute transport models under the direction of senior technical staff.\nPerform sensitivity, uncertainty, and predictive analyses for water resource and remediation modeling projects.\nCompile, evaluate, and manage spatial and subsurface datasets (including geologic, hydrogeologic, and water quality data) to support Conceptual Site Model (CSM) development.\nAssist with technical aspects of projects supporting regulatory frameworks, such as the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) permitting programs such as Aquifer Protection Permit (APP) and Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) permit applications\nAssist with ADWR Assured and Adequate Water Supply (AWS) applications including aquifer impact analysis.\nAssist with Hydrogeologic characterization in support of developing managed aquifer recharge (MAR) sites and aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) wells, including projected groundwater mounding\nAssist with data collection, aquifer testing analysis, and data interpretation.\nDraft technical reports, memos, figures, and technical appendices for project deliverables.\nSupport Project Managers with cost estimation, proposal preparation, and task management.\nMinimum Requirements\nEducation: Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred\nProfessional Experience: 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree or 6 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in groundwater modeling, hydrogeology, water resources, or environmental consulting\nModeling Software: Hands-on proficiency with numerical groundwater flow and transport modeling software, including MODFLOW, MODPATH, and MT3D. Familiarity with pre-processing applications such as Groundwater Vistas.\n Support Software: Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS Pro) and other post-processing methods such as Fortran, Python, Grapher, Surfer.\nModeling Experience: Groundwater modeling experience and familiarity with the unique groundwater challenges and regulations in Arizona and the arid Southwestern United States\n Additional Requirements: Strong technical writing and communication skills, with experience preparing technical reports and deliverables.\nAbility to prioritize tasks and work efficiently on multiple projects both independently and as part of a dynamic project team.\nStrong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing model files and datasets\nPreferred Requirements\nFamiliarity with parameter estimation tools such as Parameter Elimination (PEST)\nAdvanced data processing skills using Python, R, FORTRAN or script-based programs and dataset management tools\nExperience interpreting complex geologic and hydrogeologic data to develop Conceptual Site Models (CSMs)\nPrior experience supporting field characterization programs (e.g., well installation, logging, or pumping tests).\nAbout Matrix\nMatrix, a part of True Environmental and its partner firms, have united their strengths to establish the nation's premier environmental and engineering services consulting firm.
