This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the civil and environmental engineering industry. You will work alongside senior engineers and scientists on real-world projects that impact infrastructure, water quality, and community resilience throughout Virginia and the National Capital Area.\nWhat You'll Do\nAssist in hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling and analysis for storm drainage issues, floodplain studies, and dam safety.\nSupport the preparation of construction drawings and specifications for stormwater facilities, Green Infrastructure (GI), and Low Impact Development (LID) projects.\nOccasionally support field investigations, including stormwater infrastructure inspections (MS4), illicit discharge detection, pond inspections, and stream assessments.\nUtilize ArcGIS for mapping, data analysis, and watershed characterization.\nAssist in the production of client deliverables, including technical memoranda, environmental permit applications, and engineering cost estimates.\nConduct background research on regulatory requirements (CWA, TMDL, MS4) and emerging water management technologies.\nRequired Skills & Experience\nCurrently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. Completed coursework in Fluid Mechanics, Hydrology, or Hydraulics is highly preferred.\nMust have a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check. Must be authorized to work in the United States.\nPreferred Skills\nFamiliarity with AutoCAD/Civil3D and ArcGIS.
