This is a hands-on management role, with time reserved for coding and close collaboration with Product and technical leaders.\nWhat You'll Do\nManage and support a pod of approximately 6 to 8 engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, performance management, hiring, and career development.\n\nOwn planning, retrospectives, delivery health, and early communication of execution risks.\n\nContribute code regularly, targeting approximately 10 to 20 percent of your time and 1 to 2 pull requests per week.\n\nPartner with Product Managers and technical leads on priorities, architecture decisions, and cross-functional alignment.\n\nImprove engineer onboarding, documentation, and clarity of ownership.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nAt least 8 years of software engineering or engineering management experience, with a progressive path from individual contributor work into management.\n\nDemonstrated middle-management experience leading a team of at least 5 engineers, including hiring and performance management.\n\nRecent experience shipping production software and coding in an engineering management role, including hands-on TypeScript experience and substantial backend engineering experience.\n\nFamiliarity with TypeScript, React, Node.js, Express, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, and modern infrastructure and observability tools.\n\nExperience using AI tools in engineering workflows and familiarity with AI product development practices such as evaluations, experiment design, and dataset curation.\n\nStartup or small-company experience and a background in financial technology or lending software are helpful.\n\nMust have work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship.\n\nCompensation & Benefits\nBase salary: $225,000 to $300,000 annually.
