You will lead the architecture and development of a foundational platform that turns diverse laboratory data into a reliable, queryable knowledge base.\nWhat You'll Do\nOwn the architecture, delivery, security, and scaling of the platform's data and execution layers.\n\nBuild and operate ingestion pipelines, APIs, microservices, and storage systems that structure varied scientific data while preserving provenance.\n\nManage knowledge graph and vector search systems to support combined semantic and structured retrieval.\n\nDevelop high-concurrency services in Go and Python, including controls for agent access and isolated execution.\n\nEstablish security boundaries for authentication, tenant isolation, secrets, encryption, and zero-trust practices.\n\nOwn cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability, and define service objectives and developer workflows.\n\nSet engineering standards through architecture guidance, code reviews, mentorship, and team building.\n\nPartner with company leadership on team design, recruiting, and hiring.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nAt least 5 years of platform or infrastructure engineering experience, with a track record building and operating production backend infrastructure, data platforms, or distributed systems.\n\nDeep proficiency with Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and modern CI/CD systems.\n\nExperience designing ingestion for messy, multi-source data, including schema harmonization and entity resolution.\n\nStrong Go and Python skills; familiarity with FastAPI, TypeDB or TypeQL, Qdrant, GitHub Actions, OpenTelemetry, and Prometheus is relevant.\n\nDedicated infrastructure engineering experience alongside software engineering, with the ability to guide architecture and mentor engineers.\n\nScientific data, computational biology, biotech, or compliance experience is beneficial.\n\nCompensation & Benefits\nBase salary is $220,000 to $300,000 annually. Visa sponsorship or transfer is not available.\nLocation\nOn-site, five days per week in San Francisco, California.
