About the Role
Join a growing Series A environmental technology company developing industrial metal sorting systems. You will own hands-on mechanical engineering work from design through commissioning, helping build reliable equipment for demanding scrapyard environments.
What You'll Do
Design singulation, conveyance, and material handling systems that position scrap accurately at the sensor head.
Develop machine frames, enclosures, guarding, and sensor mounts that maintain optical alignment amid vibration and harsh conditions.
Manage tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, design for manufacturability, and fabrication packages in coordination with vendors and machine shops.
Lead on-site installation, commissioning, testing, and field iteration.
Model throughput and uptime, and plan factory layouts, line balancing, and maintenance access.
What We're Looking For
Three to seven years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience in complex hardware, automation, robotics, aerospace, semiconductor, or a related field.
A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
Experience owning mechanical or electromechanical systems from design through build, testing, and commissioning, including on-site installation and travel for equipment commissioning.
Proficiency with CAD, SolidWorks, GD&T, and released drawing packages.
Background in material handling, automation, robotics, or other complex mechanical systems, with practical hardware iteration in a factory, lab, or field setting.
Knowledge of structural, vibration, and tolerance stack-up analysis; experience with servo and pneumatic actuation, PLCs, FMEA, vendor sourcing, or machine shop coordination is valuable.
