This role is responsible for developing competitive, accurate estimates for earthwork, site development, underground utilities, and mining-related construction projects while collaborating with field operations and leadership to support successful project execution.\nWhat You'll Do as the Estimator:\nPrepare detailed cost estimates and quantity takeoffs for heavy civil, mining infrastructure, excavation, grading, roadwork, and underground utility projects.\nReview drawings, specifications, contracts, and geotechnical reports to evaluate project scope, requirements, and risks.\nCalculate labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and indirect costs using realistic production rates and construction methods.\nDevelop and organize bids using HCSS HeavyBid or comparable estimating software.\nRequest and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive costs.\nIdentify potential construction challenges, contractual risks, and opportunities for cost savings.\nCollaborate with project managers, superintendents, and leadership on bid strategies, construction approaches, and project schedules.\nParticipate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, estimate reviews, and bid/no-bid evaluations.\nPresent estimate summaries, including projected costs, margins, contingencies, and key assumptions.\nSupport project handoffs, change order pricing, budgeting, and comparisons between estimated and actual costs.\nMust-Haves as the Estimator:\n3-5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction, mining construction, excavation, or related infrastructure work.\nStrong understanding of earthwork, grading, underground utilities, road construction, drainage systems, and heavy equipment operations.\nExperience preparing detailed cost estimates and quantity takeoffs.\nAbility to interpret construction drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents.\nWorking knowledge of HCSS HeavyBid or comparable estimating software.\nUnderstanding of construction labor productivity, equipment costs, material pricing, and subcontractor coordination.\nProficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and construction-related software.\nStrong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to manage multiple bids and meet deadlines.\nValid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.\nNice-to-Haves as the Estimator:\nBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\n5+ years of heavy civil or mining construction estimating experience.\nAdvanced experience with HCSS HeavyBid and familiarity with HCSS HeavyJob.\nExperience estimating construction projects for major mining operations.\nKnowledge of MSHA requirements and mine-site safety procedures.\nFamiliarity with GPS machine control, earthwork modeling, and digital takeoff tools.\nExperience negotiating subcontractor and supplier pricing.\nUnderstanding of construction contracts, bonding, insurance requirements, and risk allocation.\nThis Role Offers:\nAnnual base salary of $80,000-$120,000, depending on experience and qualifications.\nFull-time employment based in Elko, Nevada.\nCompany-sponsored benefits in accordance with company policies.\nOpportunities to work on heavy civil construction and mining infrastructure projects.\nDirect collaboration with company leadership, project management, and field operations.\nTrueline and its clients are unabashed equal-opportunity employers committed to a diverse workforce.
