This is a critical growth and succession hire, with opportunities for experienced insurance defense and transportation litigators as well as a senior construction defect attorney who can bring deep substantive experience and meaningful trial capability.\n\nWhat You'll Do as the Litigation Attorney:\nIndependently manage an active civil litigation docket throughout Texas\nHandle insurance defense, personal injury, commercial transportation, construction defect, and related matters depending on experience\nTake ownership of approximately 25+ active cases\nDevelop litigation strategy, risk assessments, and recommendations\nMaintain regular reporting and communication with clients, carriers, insureds, and assigning attorneys\nDraft and respond to discovery, pleadings, motions, and briefs\nPrepare insureds, witnesses, experts, and other parties for depositions\nTake and defend depositions\nCoordinate with engineers, experts, consultants, and other professionals as appropriate\nDraft and argue substantive motions\nAttend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings\nNegotiate settlements and advise on resolution strategy\nPrepare matters for trial and participate directly in trial proceedings\nMaintain comprehensive command of case facts, claims, strategy, exposure, and deadlines\nMentor junior attorneys and coordinate with legal support professionals as appropriate for experience level\n\nMust-Haves as the Litigation Attorney:\nActive Texas Bar license in good standing\nAt least 5 years of substantive civil litigation experience for the core Associate openings\nInsurance defense, general personal injury, commercial transportation, or closely related experience for the core Associate profile\nStrong independent case-management experience\nSignificant discovery and deposition experience\nStrong motion practice and legal writing\nExperience handling hearings and contested proceedings\nStrong client, carrier, and insured communication\nStrong risk-analysis and problem-solving abilities\nExcellent organization, responsiveness, and attention to detail\nAbility to consistently meet the firm's Associate billable expectation of 160 hours per month, or 1,920 hours annually\nAbility to work in-office and attend proceedings throughout Texas as required\n\nNice-to-Haves as the Litigation Attorney:\n7+ years of litigation experience\nSignificant construction defect litigation experience\nTrial experience\nFirst-chair or meaningful second-chair trial experience\nCommercial transportation or trucking defense experience\nSignificant insurer-side litigation experience\nTexas federal court admissions\nLeadership or mentoring experience\nPortable business for highly experienced candidates\n\nThis Role Offers:\nBase salary of $140,000-$175,000 for the core 5-7 year Associate profile, depending on experience\nBase salary of $155,000-$215,000 for the 7+ year construction defect profile, depending on experience\nPotential flexibility in title and compensation for particularly experienced attorneys and candidates with meaningful portable business\nLucrative production-based bonus program designed to meaningfully reward attorneys who exceed annual billable targets, with increasing earning potential as production grows\nAnnual salary increases each December\nMedical insurance with approximately 90% of premium costs covered by the firm, plus dental and vision coverage\nEmployer-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, and $50,000 in life insurance, with additional voluntary life insurance available\n401(k) with a 3% employer match\nSophisticated litigation, significant case ownership, and the resources of an established Texas-based firm with a national reach\n\nTrueline and its clients are unabashed equal-opportunity employers committed to a diverse workforce.
