Leveraging proprietary technology, it is able to deliver capital to customers through a streamlined and simple process that can be completed in as little as 24 hours, compared with the weeks or even months it can take for a business to receive a traditional bank loan.
Job Summary
They are proactively mapping Senior Underwriter talent in LATAM for a potential opportunity with a U.S.-based financial services company focused on providing working capital and financing solutions to small and medium-sized businesses.
The Senior Underwriter would be responsible for evaluating business financing applications, assessing credit and repayment risk, reviewing financial and operational information, and making or recommending funding decisions.
This is not intended to be a purely rules-based processing role. Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to identify risks or inconsistencies across multiple data sources will be important.
The ideal candidate has direct experience underwriting SMB/commercial financing products in the U.S. market or working within fintech, alternative lending, merchant cash advance, commercial lending, or a closely related environment.
Responsibilities
Review and evaluate SMB financing applications and supporting documentation.
Analyze business bank statements, cash flow, revenue patterns, existing debt
obligations and overall financial health.
Review credit reports and other available third-party data sources as part of the
underwriting process.
Assess repayment capacity, creditworthiness and overall transaction risk.
Identify inconsistencies, potential fraud indicators, unusual transaction patterns and
other risk factors requiring additional review
Conduct appropriate business and ownership due diligence.
Make underwriting decisions or provide funding recommendations within established
credit policies and risk parameters.
Determine or recommend appropriate financing amounts, terms and conditions based on the applicant's risk profile.
Clearly document underwriting rationale and decision-making.
Work with Sales, Operations, Risk and other internal stakeholders to resolve questions
or obtain additional information when necessary.
Manage multiple applications simultaneously while meeting turnaround-time and quality expectations.
Escalate complex, high-risk or policy-exception cases when appropriate.
Maintain accuracy and consistency while operating in a high-volume environment.
Contribute feedback on underwriting policies, processes and opportunities for workflow
improvement.
Work effectively alongside automated underwriting tools and systems while applying
human judgment to cases requiring deeper analysis.
Qualifications and Job Requirements
4+ years of relevant underwriting, credit analysis, risk analysis or commercial lending experience.
Strong preference for experience with SMB/business lending, fintech, alternative
lending, merchant cash advance, working capital financing or commercial credit.
Experience analyzing business bank statements, cash flow and credit information.
Strong understanding of credit risk and the factors affecting the financial health of small
businesses.
Demonstrated ability to make independent risk decisions rather than exclusively
processing applications against a checklist.
Experience working in a high-volume, deadline-driven underwriting environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies or potential risk indicators.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Located in Latam.
