Truist is an American bank created in 2019 by the merger of BB&T and SunTrust, two southeastern regional banks whose combination produced one of the largest institutions in the United States. It runs consumer and small business banking across the southeast and mid-Atlantic, a substantial commercial and corporate bank, and wealth management, having sold its insurance brokerage in 2024 to concentrate capital on banking. Headquartered in Charlotte and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it spent several years absorbing the technology integration that the merger required.
