Send an email to Accessibility (accommodation requests only; other inquiries won't receive a response).\nRegular or Temporary:\nRegularLanguage Fluency: English (Required)\nWork Shift:\n1st shift (United States of America)Please review the following job description:\nThe Security Engineer will serve as a technical expert for Protegrity within the organization, responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise level data protection solutions.This role will support the integration of Protegrity with new and existing business applications, ensuring sensitive data is secured through tokenization, masking, and encryption.\nThe engineer will work closely with application teams, architects, cybersecurity leaders, and compliance stakeholders to apply best in class data protection controls across the enterprise.\nAdditionally, this role will mentor junior engineers and contribute to establishing standards, patterns, and best practices for secure data handling.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nFollowing is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Specific activities may change from time to time.\nSupport the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise data protection solutions using Protegrity, including tokenization, masking, and encryption controls.\nServe as the a technical expert for integrating Protegrity with new and existing applications, databases, and data pipelines across the organization.\nDevelop, test, and optimize data protection policies, workflows, and integration patterns to meet security and compliance requirements.\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Protegrity agents, connectors, policy enforcement, and application integration.\nPartner with application teams, architects, and cybersecurity stakeholders to ensure secure data handling throughout solution lifecycles.\nMaintain documentation for architectures, integration guides, runbooks, and operational procedures for data protection platforms.\nMentor and train junior engineers to build internal capability and ensure continuity of subject matter expertise.\nSupport ongoing operations and incident response activities for the organization’s Tier 1 data protection platform.\nRequired Qualifications\nThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and work-related experience.\nMinimum of 5 years of experience in security engineering or related cybersecurity roles.\nAdvanced knowledge in cybersecurity principles, theories, and concepts.\nProven experience in software development lifecycle security practices.\nAdvanced knowledge of threat modeling, security testing, and penetration testing.\nExperience implementing and managing complex information security technologies.\nPreferred Qualifications\n5-8+ years in software engineering, cybersecurity engineering, or data engineering roles.\nHands-on experience integrating Protegrity or a similar enterprise data protection platformStrong knowledge of: Tokenization (format-preserving, reversible, non-reversible)\n Data masking (static, dynamic)\n Encryption (symmetric, asymmetric, key management concepts)\n\nExperience with application integration patterns (APIs, SDKs, agents, proxy-based controls, microservices).\nProficiency with at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, .NET, etc.).\nStrong SQL and analytical skills.\nDeep understanding of data security, IAM, and compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).\nAbility to diagnose and resolve complex production issues in high-criticality environments.\nStrong communication and cross-team collaboration abilities.\nExperience working in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).\nFamiliarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.\nPrior experience mentoring or leading junior engineers.\nBackground with big data platforms (Snowflake, Hadoop ecosystem, Spark) is a plus.\nGeneral Description of Available Benefits for Eligible Employees of Truist Financial Corporation: All regular teammates (not temporary or contingent workers) working 20 hours or more per week are eligible for benefits, though eligibility for specific benefits may be determined by the division of Truist offering the position.
