This leader owns the platforms, frameworks, and engineering practices that enable customer data collection, integration, transformation, activation, analytics, measurement, and privacy compliance across the MarTech landscape.This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management and strategic execution. The Senior Manager drives the modernization of customer data platforms, cloud data infrastructure, digital data collection, identity management, and activation services while leading engineering teams responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and compliant solutions.\nThe ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in cloud data platforms, marketing technology, customer data ecosystems, privacy regulations, platform engineering, and modern software engineering practices.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nFollowing is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Specific activities may change from time to time.\nMarTech Data Platform Strategy & Architecture\nDefine and execute the technology roadmap for MarTech data and platform engineering.\nLead the architecture and evolution of customer data platforms, marketing data services, and activation frameworks.\nEstablish scalable architectures supporting batch, streaming, and real-time data use cases.\nDrive modernization initiatives across data ingestion, data transformation, and data provisioning capabilities.\nPartner with Enterprise Architecture to align MarTech technology investments with enterprise standards.\nData Engineering & Platform Delivery\nLead engineering teams responsible for data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and activation services.\nDeliver scalable pipelines supporting customer profiles, audience activation, campaign execution, personalization, and measurement use cases.\nOwn platform reliability, scalability, performance, resiliency, and technical debt management.\nEstablish engineering standards, reusable frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and automation practices.\nEnsure operational excellence through proactive monitoring and observability.\nCustomer Data & Activation Services\nOversee customer data management capabilities across CDP, AEP, Snowflake, and activation platforms.\nEnable audience creation, segmentation, identity resolution, and customer journey orchestration capabilities.\nSupport activation use cases across web, mobile, email, media, CRM, and analytics ecosystems.\nDrive consistency of customer data across platforms and channels..\nPlatform Governance & Vendor Management\nEstablish governance processes for platform configuration, integrations, and data quality.\nMaintain strategic relationships with MarTech vendors.\nLead vendor evaluations, contract support, and technology rationalization efforts.\nDrive adoption of engineering and operational best practices.\nEngineering Leadership\nLead and develop a team of engineers, architects, and technical leads.\nCreate a culture of ownership, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.\nProvide direction for staffing, workforce planning, vendor management, and talent Development.\nMentor engineers and managers in architecture, engineering practices, and platform strategy.\nEstablish KPIs and OKRs aligned to platform reliability, delivery, quality, and business outcome\nFoster a culture of ownership, documentation, testing, and compliance-first engineering.\nCore Technical Skills Required\nSnowflake, Databricks, AWS/Azure data services.\nStrong proficiency in SQL, Python, ETL/rETL frameworks, Streaming, Data modeling, API integrations.\nExperience with Adobe Web SDK and server-side data collection\nBackground in platform engineering or modern front-end frameworks\nExperience implementing mobile app tracking using iOS and Android SDKs.\nCI/CD, version control, and deployment processes, GitHub / GitLab, observability and monitoring.\nLeadership & Soft Skills\nAbility to lead through influence while remaining deeply technical\nClear communicator with engineers, product teams, marketers, and executives\nStrong bias toward clean implementation, documentation, and long-term maintainability\nComfort making architectural decisions in ambiguous or regulated environments\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, orequivalent combination of advanced education and experience, which could include any combination of 8 years of experience in IT software engineering, 5 years’ relevant business experience (i.e. making technical-related decisions on the business side), 5 years’ experience in project management, and at least 2 years of management experience\n3. Advanced management and leadership experience leading teams.\n4. Developing expertise and knowledge of software architecture, development lifecycle, and technology strategy.\nPreferred Qualifications\n10+ years of software, data, or platform engineering experience.\n\n5+ years leading engineering teams and large-scale technology programs.\n\nDeep expertise in customer data management, cloud engineering solutions, federated data and mesh data architecture.\n\nStrong background in cloud-native architecture, data engineering, and privacy-compliant solutions.\n\nProven experience driving modernization, automation, and operational excellence initiatives.\n\nExceptional communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders from engineers to executive leadership.\n\nThe annual base salary for this position in Richmond and Raleigh is $133,000-188,000.\nGeneral Description of Available Benefits for Eligible Employees of Truist Financial Corporation: All regular teammates (not temporary or contingent workers) working 20 hours or more per week are eligible for benefits, though eligibility for specific benefits may be determined by the division of Truist offering the position.
