You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign and build a scalable, governed financial data mart in Databricks that supports reliable financial reporting and analytics.\nPartner with Finance and subject-matter experts to translate complex financial requirements and business logic into reliable data solutions.\nInvestigate existing data, reporting logic, and processes to identify inconsistencies, simplify transformations, and establish standardized definitions.\nCentralize shared financial definitions, business rules, and transformations within reusable data models to support consistent reporting across the organization.\nBuild reconciliation, validation, and data-quality processes to ensure financial data is accurate, traceable, and audit-ready.\nPartner with Data Engineering and Analytics teams on upstream dependencies, architecture decisions, and adoption of governed financial data products.\nTroubleshoot complex data issues and continuously improve the reliability, maintainability, and scalability of Finance data solutions.\nIdentify and develop opportunities to modernize Finance processes and analytics through Databricks, automation, and AI-enabled solutions.\nRequired Qualifications\n5 - 8 years of demonstrated experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or data modeling, with a track record of independently designing and delivering production data solutions.\nAdvanced SQL skills and experience working with complex relational and transactional data.\nStrong proficiency in Python and PySpark for data transformation, pipeline development, and analysis.\nHands-on experience developing production data solutions in Databricks.\nStrong understanding of dimensional modeling, including fact and dimension design.\nStrong understanding of data quality, reconciliation, lineage, and historical data considerations.\nExperience with Git-based source control and modern software development practices.\nAbility to translate ambiguous business requirements into clear technical solutions.\nStrong technical judgment, problem-solving, and communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience working with financial, accounting, billing, claims, or other complex transactional data.\nExperience building financial data marts, governed reporting layers, or other reusable analytical data products.\nExperience supporting SOX-controlled or otherwise highly governed reporting environments.\nExperience modernizing Finance or business processes through automation, advanced analytics, or AI-enabled solutions.\nExperience working in insurance, financial services, healthcare, or another regulated industry.\nFamiliarity with Databricks governance and platform capabilities such as Unity Catalog, lineage, and access controls.\nIdeal Candidate\nThe ideal candidate is comfortable operating at the intersection of business and technology. They can understand the financial meaning behind the data, investigate complex or inconsistent logic, and translate that understanding into scalable technical solutions.\nThey are curious, pragmatic, and comfortable working through ambiguity. They can independently investigate existing systems and processes, ask the right questions, challenge assumptions when appropriate, and partner effectively with Finance, Analytics, and Data Engineering.\nCompensation:\nThe base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $130,000, on a full-time schedule. \nAlong with base compensation, Trupanion employees are currently eligible for monthly bonuses.\nWe want all employees to be invested in Trupanion’s success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members.
