You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).\nThis person manages the DevOps team. The team runs source control, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, release tooling, and pipeline secrets and certificates for Trupanion's engineering teams on Azure.\nThe manager hires and develops the team, plans and tracks its work, and manages the vendor engineers. They work closely with software engineering leads, Internal Audit, and Information Security. They need to be technical enough to review pipeline and Terraform changes and make design calls with the team.\nResponsibilities:\nHire, coach, and manage the performance of DevOps engineers.\n\nSet code review, testing, and release standards for the team's own code.\n\nPlan work in two-week sprints and manage the DevOps queue in Jira Service Management.\n\nDecide, with engineering leads, how pipelines, Terraform, and release tooling are built and run.\n\nBuild tools so engineering teams can deploy and configure their own services without filing tickets.\n\nRun pipeline change controls (approvals, separation of duties, audit evidence) with Internal Audit and Information Security.\n\nManage the vendor team's scope, quality, and delivery.\n\nReport monthly on ticket volume, SLA, and delivery metrics.\n\nLead incident response and reviews for pipeline failures. Take part in on-call.\n\n Required Qualifications\n3+ years managing software engineers.\n\n7+ years hands-on with CI/CD (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions), Terraform, and Azure.\n\nCan read and review YAML pipelines, Terraform, PowerShell or Bash, and .NET build configuration.\n\nHas built internal tools or templates that other engineering teams used.\n\nHas run change controls under SOX, SOC 2, PCI, or a similar audit.\n\nHas managed contractors or a vendor team.\n\nHas run a team in Jira with Scrum and reported on metrics such as DORA.\n\nUnderstands Git branching, pull request policies, Key Vault, managed identity, and OIDC federation.\n\nNice To Have Skills\nMoved a company from Azure DevOps to GitHub, or off Octopus Deploy.\n\nBackstage or another developer portal.\n\nTerraform Cloud administration.\n\nDatadog or Application Insights, and setting SLOs.\n\nSonarCloud or dependency scanning in pipelines.\n\nInsurance or financial services background.\n\n Compensation\nThe base salary range for this position is $160,000 - $175,000 on a full-time schedule.\nAlong with base compensation, Trupanion employees are currently eligible for monthly bonuses.\nWe want all employees to be invested in Trupanion’s success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members.
