Whether it is ensuring we are processing payments, the authorization engine that we use to decide whether to approve transactions, or the SMS flows that drivers rely on to provide essential information about how and why they are spending, the Foundations team keeps the engine running that allows the rest of engineering to provide a delightful experience to our customers. Whoever we hire for this job will get visibility not just across engineering, but the full business, including our risk and underwriting team as well as finance, product, and design. We iterate quickly, prioritize learning from our clients, build quality in, and remain ruthlessly pragmatic.\nWhat You’ll Do\nbuild product features end-to-end, from web UI to distributed services back end;\nwork to evaluate and integrate critical third-party software and infrastructure including the payments stack;\nchallenge the team to automate, improve process, simplify, raise the bar for quality;\nhelp shape the engineering culture of the company;\nhave a voice in early technology and implementation choices.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nIn your first year, you’ll be successful if you:\nLead a project from idea to production\nImplement one AI-based solution that improves the product quality across all of engineering\nContribute to the team culture by bringing your expertise from other stops in your career\nRequirements \nhave 4-10+ years experience working with first-class engineering teams with a proven track record of frequent delivery of quality software to production;\nbe experienced working on business-critical services;\nAI-native mindset: you’re already using AI tools in your daily work and you’re excited to push further;\nHave owned the full lifecycle of solutions from ideation, to delivery, to iteration;\nhave substantial experience with server-side programming, variety of databases (Postgres, DynamoDB), messaging, REST and APIs in general, distributed systems;\nhave experience with modern web development, in TypeScript;\nhave extensive experience working in cross-functional agile teams in collaboration with product and design;\nhave hands-on knowledge developing applications in the cloud (preferably AWS);\nhave a proven history of delivering complex, highly available and scalable distributed systems;\nbe pragmatic and get stuff done;\nbe passionate about building amazing products for customers;\nbe able to work independently with little oversight or management in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high-energy and mission-driven colleagues.\nNew York City based; able to be in-office 3-4 days per week \nCompensation and Benefits\nOur salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of our total compensation package that also includes benefits and equity. Pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including scope and qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Coast employees.
