Engineering Intern

Position Overview

The Engineering Intern will support manufacturing, production, quality, and process-improvement initiatives. This hands-on role provides exposure to both engineering office work and daily manufacturing operations, with approximately 50% of the internship spent on the production floor and 50% in an office environment.

The intern will help implement operating procedures and improvement projects that support production, safety, quality, throughput, productivity, first-pass yield, cost reduction, and on-time performance objectives.

Essential Functions

• Provide engineering, drawing, and design support as needed.
• Create and modify designs using SolidWorks; training may be provided.
• Assist with drawing releases and engineering change documentation.
• Perform process capability studies for manufacturing processes.
• Develop or improve methods for tracking and trending key performance indicators.
• Support the design of small equipment or process upgrades and identify improved components or materials.
• Assist with engineering activities related to product design, cost reduction, quality control, and process improvement.
• Help establish and maintain equipment preventive-maintenance procedures.
• Support spare-parts identification, organization, and inventory management.
• Assist with documentation control, timekeeping, training records, and other administrative tasks.
• Collaborate with product engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams.
• Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Ability to read and interpret documents, blueprints, router instructions, and specifications.

Requirements / Training and Experience

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field.
• Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Manufacturing, or similar engineering disciplines preferred.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, process plans, and work instructions.
• Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with personnel at all organizational levels.
• Ability to manage deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related software.

Work Environment

This position requires regular interaction with manufacturing personnel and time spent on the production floor. The intern must be comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment, following company policies and procedures, and supporting projects under the direction of a team leader or supervisor.
