This hands-on role provides exposure to both engineering office work and daily manufacturing operations, with approximately 50% of the internship spent on the production floor and 50% in an office environment.\nThe intern will help implement operating procedures and improvement projects that support production, safety, quality, throughput, productivity, first-pass yield, cost reduction, and on-time performance objectives.\nEssential Functions\nProvide engineering, drawing, and design support as needed.\nCreate and modify designs using SolidWorks; training may be provided.\nAssist with drawing releases and engineering change documentation.\nPerform process capability studies for manufacturing processes.\nDevelop or improve methods for tracking and trending key performance indicators.\nSupport the design of small equipment or process upgrades and identify improved components or materials.\nAssist with engineering activities related to product design, cost reduction, quality control, and process improvement.\nHelp establish and maintain equipment preventive-maintenance procedures.\nSupport spare-parts identification, organization, and inventory management.\nAssist with documentation control, timekeeping, training records, and other administrative tasks.\nCollaborate with product engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams.\nPerform other related duties and special projects as assigned.\nOther Skills/Abilities\nStrong understanding of engineering first principles.\nStrong communication skills.\nStrong design skills.\nSupport managerial supervisory tasks such as timekeeping, documentation control, and training.\nDeadline-driven with a strong bias toward achieving results, flexibility with schedules, and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities. Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.\nAbility to interact effectively with personnel at all organizational levels within cross-functional teams. Basic understanding of total quality management systems and tools, such as systematic problem-solving, root cause analysis, process design, demand flow, bills of material structure, process plans, routings, and Value Stream Mapping. Ability to read and interpret documents, blueprints, router instructions, and specifications.\nRequirements / Training and Experience\nCurrently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field.\nMechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Manufacturing, or similar engineering disciplines preferred.\nBasic understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.\nAbility to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, process plans, and work instructions.\nStrong communication, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to work effectively with personnel at all organizational levels.\nAbility to manage deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.\nIntermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related software.\nWork Environment\nThis position requires regular interaction with manufacturing personnel and time spent on the production floor.
