As the primary firmware specialist within assigned projects, you will work across the full development lifecycle, from requirements capture and architecture through implementation, testing, validation, and field deployment. Working closely with hardware, software, and engineering teams, you will play a key role in ensuring reliable, high-performance embedded systems that support innovative subsea inspection solutions. Responsibilities\nFirmware Engineering & Technical Delivery\nDesign, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systems.\nDevelop robust, efficient, and maintainable firmware solutions using C/C++.\nImplement and optimize communication interfaces and protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet.\nDevelop low-level drivers, board support packages (BSPs), and integration layers.\nDebug, validate, and troubleshoot firmware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, and SWD debuggers.\nLead firmware design decisions and make technical trade-offs to meet system and project requirements.\nCreate and maintain technical specifications, interface documentation, and test procedures.\nProject Collaboration & Delivery\nWork closely with hardware engineers, software developers, and project managers to deliver integrated solutions.\nOwn firmware components and ensure delivery against project timelines.\nParticipate in design reviews, technical discussions, and code reviews.\nSupport product integration, verification, and deployment activities.\nQuality, Standards & Compliance\nApply embedded software best practices and coding standards, including MISRA C principles where applicable.\nEnsure firmware complies with quality, cybersecurity, safety, and regulatory requirements.\nSupport structured testing, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nContribute to improving development workflows, testing strategies, and engineering processes.\nLearning & Technical Leadership\nContinue developing expertise in embedded systems, RTOS, and embedded Linux environments.\nShare knowledge and provide informal mentorship through code reviews and technical discussions.\nContribute reusable software components, internal tools, and technical documentation.\nField Support & HSE\nSupport deployment, troubleshooting, and integration activities in operational environments.\nFollow company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements.\nContribute to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.\nQualifications & Experience\nEssential\nBachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.\n2-5 years of experience in embedded firmware or low-level software development.\nStrong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.\nExperience with memory management, concurrency, and direct hardware interaction.\nExperience developing for microcontrollers and embedded hardware platforms.\nHands-on experience with:\nUART\nSPI\nI2C\nCAN\nEthernet\nExperience with debugging tools including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG/SWD debuggers.\nFamiliarity with Git, build systems, and software validation processes.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.\nDesirable\nExperience with RTOS and/or Embedded Linux.\nKnowledge of MISRA C and safety-critical software development.\nExperience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.\nExperience with automated testing frameworks.\nExposure to subsea, offshore, industrial, or electronic product development environments.\nExperience supporting deployed systems in operational
