This role requires the ability to collaborate effectively across Agile delivery teams, contribute to technical solution development, and support evolving Appian platform capabilities within a fast-paced delivery environment.\n\nResponsibilities\nAppian Development & Plugin Conversion\n\nDesign, develop, enhance, and maintain Appian applications supporting complex business and operational workflows\n\nSupport remediation, conversion, and modernization of custom Appian plugins to align with updated platform standards and compatibility requirements\n\nTroubleshoot and resolve issues related to custom plugins, integrations, and Appian application functionality\n\nCollaborate with architects and senior developers to implement scalable and maintainable technical solutions\n\nSupport Appian platform upgrades and related application modernization activities\n\nAssist with development and maintenance of reusable components, shared services, and integration frameworks\n\nTechnical Design & Development Support\n\nParticipate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and solution implementation activities\n\nDevelop and maintain technical documentation, deployment instructions, and support artifacts\n\nSupport integration efforts involving APIs, web services, databases, and external systems\n\nWrite and optimize SQL queries to support application functionality and reporting needs\n\nEnsure development activities align with coding standards, security requirements, and best practices\n\nCollaborate with QA teams to support defect resolution, testing activities, and deployment readiness\n\nAgile Delivery & Collaboration\n\nParticipate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives\n\nCollaborate with Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, developers, QA teams, and stakeholders to support successful delivery outcomes\n\nAssist with estimation, technical planning, and delivery coordination activities\n\nSupport troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution efforts across development and testing environments\n\nContribute to a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement and delivery quality\n\nModernization & Continuous Improvement\n\nSupport application modernization initiatives within complex Appian environments\n\nAssist with efforts related to plugin remediation, technical debt reduction, and platform optimization\n\nIdentify opportunities to improve development efficiency, maintainability, and operational stability\n\nStay current on Appian platform updates, development best practices, and emerging capabilities\n\nSupport knowledge-sharing initiatives across the broader Appian practice, including exposure to Appian AI capabilities where applicable\n\nRequired Skills / Experience\n\nMinimum 3 years of professional software development experience\n\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience\n\nMinimum 2 years of hands-on Appian development experience\n\nExperience supporting Appian application development within Agile software delivery environments\n\nExperience working with custom Appian plugins, Java-based development, or integration components\n\nStrong understanding of software development lifecycle practices and secure coding principles\n\nExperience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries\n\nExperience utilizing Git/GitLab or similar source control workflows\n\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\n\nAbility to work independently and collaborate effectively within cross-functional Agile teams\n\nPreferred Skills / Experience\n\n4+ years of professional software development experience\n\nAppian Certified Associate Developer or Appian Certified Senior Developer certification\n\nExperience supporting Appian platform upgrades, plugin remediation, or modernization initiatives\n\nExperience developing or maintaining custom Appian plugins using Java\n\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Docker, or containerized deployment approaches\n\nExperience supporting AWS-hosted or cloud-based application environments\n\nFamiliarity with REST/SOAP integrations and API development\n\nExposure to Kubernetes or container orchestration platforms\n\nExposure to Appian AI capabilities, AI Skills, AI Copilot, AI Document Processing, or other emerging Appian platform features\n\nExperience supporting federal government or public sector technology programs\n\nExperience contributing to knowledge transfer and cross-team collaboration initiatives within technical organizations\n\nAdditional Information\nSuccessful candidates are subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust.
