If you're ready to join the TSTC family and make great memories please complete our application process.\nJob Description\nThis position is an entry point for the pool of qualified applicants to be selected for anticipated part-time temporary positions working under the guidance of the Texas State Technical College Corporate College. Instructors may be required to develop customized training curriculum and /or provide instruction for workforce development and industrial training clients.Essential Functions\nEmployee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.\nDevelop curriculum for a variety of educational projects including but not limited to continuing education, apprenticeships, contract and industrial training, and other special training projects, as well as international programs.\nDeliver instruction for a variety of educational projects including but not limited to continuing education, apprenticeships, contract and industrial training, and other special training projects, as well as international programs.\nComplete documentation including grades, etc., as required by the supervisor.\nOther duties as assigned\nEducation/Experience/Knowledge/Skills\nTwo years of experience as a Paramedic functioning on an emergency response ambulance required\n\nParamedic certification from the Texas Department of State Health Services\n\nKnowledge of EMS practices\n\nKnowledge of laboratory safety practices\n\nKnowledge of emergency procedures\n\nKnowledge of pre-hospital practices\n\nKnowledge of proper assessment techniques\n\nSkill to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment in a safe and correct manner\n\nTeaching and testing skills\n\nAbility to deliver instructional presentations\n\nAbility to prepare EMS lab\n\nAbility to train and direct students\n\nPhysical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort\n\nMedium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects\n\nExpertise in Emergency Medicine\n\nExpertise in Basic and Advanced Life Support Skills\n\nCommunication Skills\n\nTeaching Ability\n\nCritical Thinking and Problem Solving\n\nAdaptability and Flexibility\n\nEmpathy and Compassion\n\nPatience and Resilience\n\nContinuous learning through evidence based practice\n\nEthical and Professional Conduct\n\nTrain and direct students on proper emergency procedures to include: suctioning, oxygen therapy, airway management, traction, splinting, bandaging, etc.\n\nDemonstrate procedures including but not limited to: CPR instruction for infants and adults, spinal immobilization, vital signs, patient assessment, etc.\n\nDirect students in the proper procedure for medical administration such as: metered dose inhalers, epi pens, sublingual intramuscular injection, subcutaneous injection, endotracheal, cardioversion, code management, and defibrillation\n\nTrain students on the proper procedures for ECG Recognition, such as: endotracheal intubation for adult and infant, esophageal intubation, intraosseous infusion, intravenous catheter insertion, external cardiac pacing, pneumatic anti-shock trousers, and automatic external defibrillator\n\nProvide information in the areas of expertise including but not limited to: hazardous materials, communications, ambulance operations, and multi-casualty incidents;\n\nKeep up to date with and revise course content and teaching methodology in order to maintain current working knowledge;\n\nDirect and/or evaluate students through skills practice in the proper procedures for safe and effective use of EMS equipment and simulation manikins;\n\nPrepare EMS lab sessions with the proper amount of materials and equipment necessary to effectively teach or evaluate EMS skills for each student;\n\nMaintain current working knowledge of pre-hospital practices and EMS education curriculum\n\nTrain and direct students on proper CPR procedures to include: rescue breathing, opening of the airway, chest compressions, and AED operation while utilizing AHA approved training materials; train and direct students in BLS procedures and protocols\n\nTrain and direct students on proper activation of emergency response systems\n\nTrain and direct students in proper assessment techniques to include: medical assessment, trauma assessment, pediatric and geriatric assessment\n\nRecommended Experience/Certifications:\n\nAAS Degree\n\nEMS Instructor Certification\n\nBLS Instructor\n\nACLS Instructor\n\nPALS Instructor\n\nPHTLS Instructor\n\nNREMT Paramedic\n\nClinical Coordinator experience\n\nEquivalent combination of education, training and relevant professional experience will be considered.\n\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nTexas State Technical College (TSTC), as an equal opportunity employer, complies with all applicable federal and state laws regarding nondiscrimination.
