Motiva is wholly owned by Aramco, one of the world’s largest integrated energy and chemicals companies.\nPosition Overview:\nThe Senior Civil & Structural Engineer provides civil and structural engineering expertise in support of Motiva's Major Capital Projects organization. This role is responsible for reviewing, coordinating, and overseeing civil and structural engineering deliverables to ensure safe, reliable, cost-effective, and compliant project execution.\nWorking as part of a multidisciplinary project team, this position collaborates with engineering contractors, project management, construction, operations, and technical specialists to support project development and execution from concept through startup. The successful candidate applies strong technical expertise and sound engineering judgment to resolve complex design and execution challenges while supporting project objectives for safety, quality, schedule, and cost.\nThis is an onsite position based at Motiva's corporate headquarters in downtown Houston, Texas. Motiva offers a 9/80 work schedule, providing every other Friday off. On scheduled work Fridays, employees have the flexibility to work remotely.\nResponsibilities:\nProvide civil and structural engineering support for major capital projects within refining and petrochemical facilities.\n\nReview and develop civil and structural engineering scope, deliverables, engineering work plans, and execution strategies.\n\nReview engineering contractor designs, calculations, specifications, studies, and construction packages for technical accuracy and compliance.\n\nEnsure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, project specifications, and industry best practices.\n\nPerform technical reviews and discipline checks of engineering deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and constructability.\n\nApply sound engineering judgment to resolve technical issues and provide practical solutions to project challenges.\n\nSupport the analysis and design review of structural steel, reinforced concrete structures, foundations, and site development work associated with petrochemical facilities.\n\nCoordinate civil and structural engineering activities across engineering contractors, project teams, and supporting disciplines.\n\nMonitor engineering progress and identify risks that may impact project cost, schedule, quality, or execution.\n\nParticipate in design reviews, model reviews, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.\n\nSupport procurement and construction activities through technical evaluations, document reviews, and field issue resolution.\n\nEnsure civil and structural deliverables are completed in alignment with project objectives, schedules, and quality expectations.\n\nIdentify opportunities to improve project execution, engineering efficiency, and design effectiveness.\n\nWork closely with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Construction, and Project Controls teams to support integrated project execution.\n\nBuild and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, engineering contractors, suppliers, and construction teams.\n\nProvide technical support during design, construction, commissioning, and startup activities.\n\nCommunicate technical issues, recommendations, and risks clearly to project stakeholders.\n\nPromote safety-in-design principles and support Motiva's commitment to safe project execution.\n\nEnsure compliance with applicable environmental, regulatory, and engineering requirements.\n\nParticipate in quality reviews and continuous improvement efforts to enhance project performance and deliverable quality.\n\nSupport risk identification, mitigation planning, and management of civil and structural engineering risks throughout the project lifecycle.\n\nExperience and Qualifications:\nRequired Education and Experience:\nBachelor’s degree.\n\nMinimum 10 years of civil and structural engineering experience supporting capital projects in refining, petrochemical, oil & gas, energy, or other heavy industrial environments.\n\nDemonstrated experience with structural steel design, reinforced concrete design, foundations, and site development.\n\nExperience supporting multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects through various phases of project execution.\n\nStrong knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles, methods, and industry best practices.\n\nWorking knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318, and other relevant regulatory requirements.\n\nExperience reviewing engineering designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and contractor deliverables for technical accuracy and compliance.\n\nAbility to identify, assess, and mitigate technical and project execution risks.\n\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.\n\nEffective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.\n\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.\n\nCommitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.\n\nPreferred Education and Experience:\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license, preferably in the State of Texas.\n\nMaster's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.\n\nExperience serving in an Owner's Engineer, EPC, or major capital project execution role.\n\nExperience supporting large-scale grassroots or brownfield refinery and petrochemical projects.\n\nProficiency with STAAD Pro, STAAD Foundation, and other structural analysis software.\n\nWorking knowledge of AutoCAD and related engineering design tools.\n\nExperience coordinating with EPC contractors and managing engineering interfaces.\n\nExperience supporting projects during construction, commissioning, and startup.\n\nMulti-office, global, or international project execution experience.\n\nWe reserve the right to amend or withdraw Motiva jobs at any time, including prior to the closing date.
