Backend Architectural Artifacts.\n\n- Platform level systems and services (PIM, ERP, Commerce, CMS, Marketing etc), their relationships and interconnectivity.\n\n- Implementation level architecture for secure, cloud-native, scalable & performant backend services (monoliths, microservices, modularization).\n\n- Contribute to and maintain our org wide Architecture Decision Records.\n\n- Support the delivery and maintenance of our Backend Engineering Policies, Procedures and Standards.\n\n- CI/CD practices, environment configuration, feedback loops etc.\n\n- Backend tooling, frameworks, their application, quality gating and measurement.\n\n- Technology stack/services consultancy and selection in accordance with technical and quality requirements (scalability, performance, security, compliance).\n\n- Support our platform & Backend Operational Practices.\n\n- Drive Ecommerce and client wide projects.\n\n- Disaster Resiliency, Recovery and Availability Planning capabilities.\n\n- Logging strategies for efficient root cause analysis and low MTTRs.\n\n- Monitoring, Alerting and on-call policies.\n\n- Unit, Integration and Acceptance level, API contract testing strategies.\n\n- Ongoing metrics and dashboarding on backend performance (SLAs, SLOs, SLIs, Golden Signals dashboarding etc).\n\n- Drive best in class Backend strategies.\n\n- Our customers need to love what we do for them.\n\n- Work across disciplines and with other Principal Engineers to evangelize for the needs of the Backend discipline.\n\nRole Details:\n\n- Knowledge transfer, training, mentoring of backend practices across the engineering org.\n\nSkills:\n\n- Extensive ecommerce experience and the latest capabilities in the space.\n\n- Exposure and usage of major ecommerce platforms (SAP Commerce Cloud, Magento, Mirakl, Punchouts etc).\n\n- Expert knowledge of backend technologies, their strengths and weaknesses and how to get the most out of them (SAP Commerce Cloud, SAP S/4, ElasticSearch/Solr, Redis, MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).\n\n- An advocate and enabler of strong quality controls (unit, integration, acceptance testing frameworks and methodologies) using industry leading tooling (Junit, SonarCloud, Jmeter, Webdriver.io etc).\n\n- Proficiency in one or more major cloud platforms, such as Azure (preference), Google Cloud, AWS or others; A deep understanding of cloud native methodologies.\n\n- Containerization technologies: Docker/ContainerD, Kubernetes (K8S, K3S), container registries and artifact tools (Artifactory, GCR, ACR, ECR).\n\n- An applied knowledge of vertical and horizontal scaling of systems and services including microservice, monolithic, Web/Queue/Worker and distributed systems architectural patterns.\n\n- Understanding of REST, GraphQL and event-driven architecture principles and best practices and tooling (Pub/Sub, Kafka etc).\n\n- Experience with APM, distributed tracing techniques, monitoring and logging tools like AWS CloudWatch, EFK/ELK Stack, OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Datadog, New Relic etc.\n\n- A strong understanding and observed application of oAuth2, Spiffes, and other Authz and Authn best practices and tooling.\n\n- Strong competence in a range of programming languages and associated frameworks (Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SpringBoot, ReactJS, NextJS, TailwindCSS etc).\n\n- Knowledge of diagramming tools and methodologies (Miro, Diagrams.net, Figjam, Mermaid.JS etc).\n\n- Strong communication and presentation skills.\n\n- Educated to Degree level in Computer Science or equivalent 5+ years of relevant industry
